Steidel Wall added that the Archives could not obtain federal records related to “unofficial electronic messaging accounts that were not copied or forwarded to their official electronic messaging accounts.” He noted that presidential advisers are required by law to send such messages to their official accounts.
“While there’s no easy way to establish absolute accountability, we know we’re not holding everything we should,” Steidl Wall wrote, according to a letter provided to The Washington Post.
