PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants kick off at Lincoln Financial Field as the crowd prepares for the fifth all-time meeting between the Eagles and Giants. New York enters this tournament as the underdog, but has defied the odds all season en route to the divisional round.
Daniel Jones is coming off a career-best performance, completing 24 of 35 passes for 301 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions (115.7 rating) as New York scores a season-high 31 points on the road in its wild-card victory. Vikings. Jones set the franchise playoff record by a quarterback (78) and became the third quarterback in NFL history to throw for 300-plus yards and rush for 75-plus yards in a playoff game. Jones is the first player in league history with 300-plus passing yards, 70-plus rushing yards and two-plus passing touchdowns in a playoff game.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been out two weeks with a sprained shoulder, but there was no injury report all week. With the healthy Eagles having one starter out (slot cornerback Avonte Maddox), he’s expected to be good to go. The Eagles won both contests, 48-22 in Week 14 and 22-16 in Week 18, although New York rested its starters in Week 18 because it was already ranked No. 6 in the NFC. In the 48-22 victory, the Eagles rushed for 253 yards and scored the most points ever against the Giants on the road.
Philadelphia has dominated this rivalry since the New York Eagles ended their season in the divisional round of the playoffs. Can the Giants turn their fortunes around in front of a hostile crowd against their NFC East rivals?
