BRC: Thanks for doing this interview Jackie.  What problems and adversities have you gone through as a female in this sport?
At the beginning, it was much harder than it is today.  I have been around for almost 30 years now and most of the young fighters do not even remember the days when there weren't female managers. There are still some older men in the business who have a problem dealing with a woman, but I never let it bother me.

BRC: You’ve been with a lot of fighters.  Who would you say was the most manageable or marketable?
A lot of the fighters I've worked with were marketable.  Thomas Hearns was the first boxer I worked with and he became a well-respected icon in the business.  I always thought Bronco McKart was very marketable--charming and great with the fans.  As far as being "manageable," I would have to say that most of the boxers I have managed--and all the boxers I work with today--have been easy to work with.  There have been a few exceptions, of course, but for the most part my boxers have all been terrific.

BRC: A lot has been said on your relationship with James Toney.  If you don’t mind me asking, what happened between you and James?
James and I had a wonderfully successful six years together--with a lot of ups and downs sprinkled in.  When our second three-year contract term ended, he elected to go with another manager. We are on good terms today, though, and are always very friendly when we run into each other.

BRC: How are things with Bronco McKart?
Bronco and I are still good friends and always will be.  He is a true gentlemen and one of my favorite people in this business.

BRC: What are his plans for his next fight?
I don't manage Bronco anymore so I can't say what he has planned.  But his win against
Enrique Ornelas was a pleasant surprise!

BRC: In your opinion is this the year that the big fights are happening?
There are always big fights but it does seem that there are some good ones coming up.  The De La Hoya-Mayweather fight captivated the boxing fans for months. There hasn't been that kind of excitement since the old Tyson fights and Oscar's earlier title bouts. I love to see our sport creating this kind of interest.

BRC: What about some predictions on upcoming fights.  Calzaghe-Kessler?
This is an even fight but I give Calzaghe a slight edge.

      BRC: Mayweather-Hatton?
Another good match.  I am going with Floyd.

      BRC:  Mosley-Cotto
I love Shame, but I think he's going to have problems beating Cotto.  I am picking Cotto.

      BRC: Barrera-Pacquiao
Pacquiao

      BRC: Taylor-Pavlik
I like Pavlik in this one. KO

BRC: Who in your opinion is the greatest of all time?
Joe Louis

BRC:  Best fighter today?
Mayweather

BRC: Your hero or idol?
Barbara Walters

BRC: Most important punch in the sport?
Body punch

BRC: Any closing remarks?
I am still very passionate about boxing.  I am currently managing Damian Fuller, Matt Remillard, Jeannine Garside, Karim Mayfield, Reggie LaCrete and Anthony Chavez.  I have high hopes for all of them.
