'IRISH' MICKY WARD TO UNDERGO EYE SURGERY

Retired boxer “Irish” Micky Ward is scheduled to undergo surgery to both eyes, in order to repair blurred peripheral vision resulting from an injury suffered in his last pro fight, September 16 at Mass Eye & Ear Hospital in Boston.

Ward, who will turn 39 October 4, retired June 7 2003 immediately following his third fight against his now close friend, Arturo “Thunder” Gatti. One of boxing’s most popular and respected fighters, Micky retired after 18 years as a pro with a 38-13 (27 KOs) record. He defeated previously unbeaten Shea Neary in London to become WBU light welterweight champion.

His fans may send best wishes to Micky via email to fullcourtpress_143@hotmail.com, or cards to Micky Ward, C/O Full Court Press, 14 Mill St., North Reading, MA 01864.
