MARQUEZ vs VAZQUEZ III, A GREAT RIVALRY CONTINUES... by Frank Gonzalez, Jr.
Saturday night at the Home Depot Center in Carson California, WBC Super Bantamweight Champion Israel Vasquez (43-4, 32 KO’s), one of the best power punchers in the sport, fought that rubber match against one of the sharpest boxer-punchers in boxing, Rafael Marquez (37-5, 33 KO’s). It was an amazing fight and a definite candidate for “Fight of the Year” honors.
No Mariachi bands, no pre-fight swipes, no confetti, no hype; just pure, unadulterated fisticuffs from the first bell to the last.

VAZQUEZ RETAINS TITLE VIA SPLIT DECISION... by George Elsasser
Showtime commentators: A) Jim Gray - pre-fite dressing room interview with Vazquez the usual ludicrous, silly questions - then the post fite in ring exchanges with Vazquez begin with asking the winner if he thought he won. Did the fool expect a, 'No, I clearly lost, they robbed the guy.' Gimme a break. Similar nonsense with losing Marquez if he thought he had won. Then asking respective fighters if the round ten knockdown was a knockdown since the corner ring ropes helped Marquez remain upright. Then a closing mutual to both if they were willing to meet in a fight four rematch. ¿Por que, I ask?

VAZQUEZ-MARQUEZ III: THE ULTIMATE RUBBER MATCH...by Tom Dickey
With all the negative publicity boxing has gotten of late, whether it's been Floyd Mayweather pimping himself on WWE, or a recent heavyweight unification fight mired in loud boos, this is just what the sport needs. A fight that is guaranteed to satisfy.
Marquez and Vazquez are not the biggest guys, obviously. But, they hit as if they were, and on Saturday night look for something every combat sports enthusiast likes, a good old fashioned slugfest. In addition, keep in mind that these are the two best fighters in the lower weight divisions. What is being offered here is not two club fighters going at it in a tough man competition sort of way. What Showtime is bringing your way is a battle between two of the sport's best fighters, who will surely wage battle in a skillful, violent manner.
