FERNANDO VARGAS: CLICK, CLICK... BOOM!... by Aladdin Freeman
After watching the HBO fight this past weekend I can’t help but feel sorry for Fernando Vargas and how his career has come to pass. Fernando Vargas, whose pride and heart is the size of the state of Texas, looks like a shot fighter. His handlers have had to deal with many things in his young career, like his out of the ring life style, which may have had an effect on him being been rushed into deeper water than he should have, but this is a more serious issue. I won’t sugar coat it, Vargas looked like a shot fighter or a least a fighter who’s well on his way. Slow hands, few if any combinations, scared to pull the trigger, much more concerned about what’s coming at him or at least thinking about it rather than reacting to it.

FERNANDO 'NOT SO FEROCIOUS' VARGAS... Sharkie's Machine by Frank Gonzalez Jr.
Saturday night in Corpus Christi Texas, Fernando “El Feroz” Vargas (25-2-0-22 KO’s) made his cautious return to the ring after a fifteen-month layoff. He entered the ring weighing 169 pounds to face the soft punching, Ray Joval (33-4-0-15 KO’s). Joval’s pressure and volume of punches kept it a fight but it wasn’t much to look at. Especially after re-watching Pac Man battle Morales for 12 action packed rounds.

VARGAS AND THE FUTURE OF THE JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT DIVISION... by Xavier "El Mago" Cepeda
Fernando Vargas made a safe and quiet return to the ring this past Saturday. Looking consistent, and defensive minded, he turned out a decision win over a determined Joval. The fight did not have the intensity of a normal Vargas fight, but of course with his new trainer and style, this is not the ‘normal’ Vargas.

VARGAS RETURN A WINNING SPAR SESSION... by George Elsasser
As for "Aztec" warrior, I want to first see the DNA report. No real warrior would react as Vargas did when on the receiving end of a Joval low blow. Drops his gloves to the protected area while howling and turning to referee Cortez for help. Is quickly tagged by a right hand and fortunately the guy can’t punch, or it could have been "good nite Irene" for the "Ferocious" one.

VARGAS VICTORIOUS IN HIS COMEBACK DESPITE JOVAL'S SPIRITED EFFORT... by Oleg Bershadsky
After a fifteen month long lay off due to a career threatening back injury Fernando Vargas stepped back into the ring this Saturday night in an effort to rejuvenate his career. The jovial crowd on hand at Corpus Christi, Texas welcomed Vargas from his long hiatus and he in return gave them a solid performance in the ring. What on paper looked to be a safe and easy fight for Vargas quickly turned into a tightly contested battle as Raymond Joval showed that he came to fight.

VARGAS TAKES NEXT STEP WITH DECISION OVER JOVAL ... by Chris Robinson
When looking at the career of ‘Ferocious’ Fernando Vargas, despite all of his past success, one still seems to sense that he’s somewhat well removed from his glory days at the top of the sport. I get the feeling that his rise back to championship status, if it should ever happen again, will be a slow and steady step by step process as he shakes off the rust from a 15 month layoff and increases the competition with each incoming bout. The finished story of ‘El Feroz’ is far from being written, but the good news is that Fernando successfully took another step closer to his championship aspirations tonight with a solid but somewhat uneventful ten round decision over rugged Raymond Joval.

FERNANDO VARGAS GOES BACK TO WORK THIS SATURDAY... by Chris Robinson
Love him or hate him, there’s no denying what ‘Ferocious’ Fernando Vargas has given to the sport of boxing. Truly one of the pure blood n’ guts fighters in the game, the former Jr. Middleweight champion has seen the highest of highs while also tasting the lowest of lows. ‘El Feroz’ is making his return to the ring this Saturday, March 26th on HBO against Raymond Joval, with eventual hopes of regaining his glory at 154 lbs. on the agenda. Fans and detractors alike should both be tuning in, and no matter what it's just good seeing Vargas back in action again.

FEROCIOUS ONE TO MAKE HIS RETURN IN TEXAS... by Xavier 'El Mago' Cepeda
This fight is a mismatch any way that you look at it. Vargas has an excellent amateur and professional background. He has fought the best in our country and abroad since he was a teenager. He has faced fighters like De la Hoya, Trinidad, Quartey, Wright, and Marquez. The majority of all the fighters that Joval has faced were in Europe, where the competition is a generally a step below what is available in the U.S.

VARGAS PROMISES SOMETHING NEW THANKS TO NEW TRAINER DANNY SMITH!
"When I decided I was ready to come back I asked who Ishe Smith’s trainer is because Ishe helped me prepare for the De la Hoya fight.  He was hard to hit in camp.  Danny (Smith) has opened my eyes.  I thought I knew everything there is to know about boxing.  You’re going to see something on Saturday.  Just wait.."

HBO SETS THE STAGE FOR 'A FEROCIOUS FIGHT NIGHT' ON MARCH 26 FROM CORPUS  CHRISTI
He's been an Olympian, World Champion and battled such greats as Oscar de la Hoya and Felix Trinidad. Now boxing superstar "Ferocious" Fernando Vargas is bringing his hard punching act to Corpus Christi, Texas. The 27 year old Vargas (25-2, 23 KO's) will headline Corpus Christi's biggest boxing event ever on Saturday, March 26 at the new American Bank Center when Miller Lite and Main Events presents... "FERNANDO, A FEROCIOUS FIGHT NIGHT."
