Three weight world champion Manny Pacquiao
has stated his desire to step up in weight yet again, this time
to fight Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton at Light Welterweight.
Talking before his Lightweight match-up
against David Diaz, the Filipino explained that he doesn't see
the move up to 140 lbs to be a problem, stating that most of
his sparring partners weigh between the 140-150lb mark anyway.
With Hatton already a big favourite with the fans, and the
"Pacman" also popular due to his aggressive fighting style,
this is every fight fan's dream.
Hatton seems to be a popular choice at the
moment, with potential bouts already being lined up
with Malignaggi and De La Hoya, and having already stated his
desire to have only two or so more big fights before he hangs
up his gloves. Pacquiao's announcement will no doubt give
"The Hitman" some thinking to do.
It is also worth noting that the Filipino
star has expressed his desire to fight Amir Kahn at some point
in the future, in another bout that is sure to be popular with
fight fans across the globe. Although not as well
known or experienced as Hatton, Kahn has already taken the
domestic fight scene by storm, and has been touted as a future
world champion at lightweight.
With Calzaghe talking about a fight with Roy
Jones and David Haye set to take the Heavyweight scene by
storm, this announcement confirms that this is a very exciting
time for British boxing.
