a Sharmba Mitchell.
YATES RESPONDS TO MITCHELL'S
COMMENTS... by Darren Yates, from Down Under
Mitchell: "Coming into the second round, when I got hit with the
punch I got into another mode. I just beat myself up by falling into the
trap of fighting how he wanted to fight."
Yates thoughts: Tszyu's punch landed so fast and so hard and they sent
Mitchell into a bit of shock and threw him off his game plan, and isn't that
the name of the game?
WHO IS NEXT FOR KOSTYA TSZYU?...
by Darren Yates, from Down Under
A Tszyu-Gatti
showdown has been long over due for 4 or 5 years now. The
time is now right for this match up to be made, both fighters are
hot at the same time and providing Gatti beats Leija in January
(as he should), both fighters' management teams should start
negotiations. The biggest problem facing the realization of this
match is that Tszyu is a Showtime fighter and Gatti is an HBO
fighter.
TSZYU PROVES HE IS STILL THE UNDISPUTED
RULER OF THE 140 LB. DIVISION... by Darren Yates from Down Under
Most of the American press thought Father Time and nearly two
years out of the boxing ring would work against Kostya Tszyu. I believe Father
Time caught up with Sharmba Mitchell whose style is not the best for an aging
fighter, as he relies on running away from his opponents and fighting his man on
HIS own terms. I enjoy on occasion being able to see things that other boxing
writers and enthusiasts are unable to see and what I saw leading up to this bout
was a good but average ex-champion in Sharmba Mitchell beating some good but
average fighters.
TSZYU-MITCHELL: DON'T WAKE THE SLEEPING LION...
by Jeff Mayweather
We
have a saying in boxing... don't wake the sleeping lion.
Meaning don't give your opponent any necessary fuel to get him
motivated to a level he may not have been at if you hadn't pissed
him off. A similar situation happened when former WBA Super
Lightweight Champion Sharmba Mitchell geared up to face his one
time conqueror Kostya Tszyu...
TSZYU STOPS MITCHELL IN THREE CANDLES...
by George Elsasser
Kostya Tszyu, a Siberian express via "Down Under" country,
shocked the entire fight fraternity with a stunning third stanza KO over veteran
Sharmba Mitchell to reclaim his IBF jr. welterweight bauble... The
shocker was not because of Tszyu stopping Sharmba, but more in the manner that
he took command so early in the contest...
TSZYU FINISHES MITCHELL IN 3...
Sharkie's
Machine by Frank Gonzalez Jr.
Tszyu is one of my favorite
fighters, not only because of his successes in the ring but
because of his respect for himself and the sport.
KOSTYA RETURNS IN GRAND FASHION; STOPS MITCHELL IN 3... by Chris Robinson
Tonight from the Glendale Arena in Phoenix, Arizona
we saw Tszyu, who was coming off a 21-month hiatus, dig into his bag of
tricks and break down a very respected Sharmba Mitchell at 2:48 of the third
round.
BOXING'S
FINEST SPEAK ON TSZYU - MITCHELL: AN EXCLUSIVE BRC POLL...
by Elisa Harrison
What do Glen Johnson, Randall
Bailey, Zab Judah,
Harold Lederman, Nate Campbell, Robbie Peden, Chuck Bodak and
Jack Mosley -among others- have in common? They all participated in our
exclusive poll. Don't miss what they have to say...
Editor's Note: Out of the 60 poll participants,
not ONE picked the correct outcome of the fight including KO round.
Thirty-seven of boxing's finest picked Tszyu to win, and 21 out of those
picked him to win by KO or TKO.
TSZYU FINISHES MITCHELL IN 3...
Sharkie's
Machine by Frank Gonzalez Jr.
Tszyu is one of my favorite fighters, not only
because of his successes in the ring but because of his respect for himself
and the sport. As the press took pictures, Tszyu put his arm around Mitchell
in a show of respect and had the cameras catch them holding each other’s arms
up in mutual respect. As the post fight interviews were conducted, Tszyu
credited Mitchell for his show of heart. Mitchell confessed that the
unflattering remarks he made about Tszyu in the last few years was business,
and not personal. Tszyu accepted that and both were gracious at the end of the
day. It’s always nice to see good sportsmanship. Talk about closure.

anywhere anytime soon.
TSZYU MAY BE THROUGH: WHY TSZYU vs MITCHELL IS ANYBODY'S
FIGHT...
by
Blaine Hislop
Ever since his devastating victory over Zab Judah, Tszyu has
comfortably assumed an aura of quiet invincibility that makes him
a legitimate threat to the physical well-being of any opponent
140 pounds or less. That said, I think Sharmba can (will?)
beat him. Here's why...
TSZYU-MITCHELL: FLIP A COIN... by Tom Dickey
One thing that I have noticed listening to a lot
experts discuss the upcoming Kostya Tszyu-Sharmba
Mitchell fight is that opinions are pretty well split
on who will win. Each contingent has their good points
on why they think Tszyu or Mitchell will win. What I have taken from what I have heard, read, and what I believe, is that
this fight is a toss up.
TSZYU AND MITCHELL HAVE THEIR SAY...
Kostya Tszyu: "To
return to the ring after one injury, then two, in this type of
match-up will not be easy but I am ready. I feel I do not have to
prove myself to anyone. Expect to see a lot of interesting
surprises from me."
Sharmba Mitchell: "I
appreciate Kostya giving me a second chance; I believe I am the first one
he has ever given a rematch to. I am not going to let this opportunity go
by easily.’’

A PREVIEW TO TSZYU-MITCHELL II...
by Darren Yates from Down Under
It has been an extremely long 22 months for Kostya Tszyu fans such as myself.
Not just because one of the world's most skilled and entertaining fighters has
been out of action for so long, but also because of whining Sharmba
Mitchell who made all kinds of ridiculous statement about why Tszyu had pulled
out of their scheduled bout.

KOSTYA TSZYU vs SHARMBA MITCHELL PREDICTION

by George Elsasser
First order of business when playing the
prediction game is to go to the respective stats and tale of the tape helpers
... and in Tszyu vs Mitchell we get a bonus in that they have met before.
THE CALM BEFORE THE STORM: TSZYU vs MITCHELL
...
Sharkie's Machine by Frank Gonzalez Jr.
On a cold day in February of 2001, two
great technical fighters fought a sloppy, somewhat dirty fight.
Tszyu even got a point deducted by ‘fair but firm’ Referee Joe
Cortez for pushing in the fourth round. There were no knockdowns
but Mitchell went down about five times—wrestling out of
clinches.
HEALED AND READY TO GO: AN INTERVIEW WITH
SHARMBA MITCHELL...
by Tom Dickey
Sharmba Mitchell will get a chance at redemption
on November 6th when he steps in the ring to battle
undisputed super lightweight champion Kostya Tszyu.
The two first met on February 3, 2001, and the fight
was stopped in the 7th round due to a knee injury to
Mitchell. The fight was very close at the time of the
stoppage, and Mitchell has now recuperated and is ready
for a chance to avenge that loss in 2001.
TSZYU vs MITCHELL - A PUGILISTIC PUZZLE...
by George Elsasser
The long awaited return between
unified Jr. Welter champion Kostya Tszyu and challenger Sharmba Mitchell is
now no more than a hop, skip, jump away … and the November 6 battle for the
IBF bauble is as much a pugilistic puzzle as it gets.
