RAHMAN-TONEY: WORK RATE vs SUCCESS RATE... by Aladdin Freeman
There is nowhere to start but at the top. James Toney vs. Hasim Rahman was a fight where James Toney should have gotten the nod. This isn’t the Olympics; pitter patting jabs shouldn’t be counted as much as power punches. I’ll also say this, shame on James Toney for fighting at 237 pounds; it was clear he was tired in many rounds in the fight. Moreover, shame on Hasim Rahman for not throwing even ONE purposeful right hand.

TONEY vs RAHMAN: FRUSTRATING TO SAY THE LEAST... by Ice John Scully
Keys to the fight were: 1) Rock was able to keep walking James down and put that physical pressure on him, and 2) James's body (his muscles) didn't have the ability to recover quickly enough once he let his hands go with nice combinations. They key is to not just throw sharp punches but have the type of conditioning that allows you to recover quickly enough to do it continuously.

RAHMAN RETAINS WBC STRAP VIA MAJORITY DRAW... by George Elsasser
Hasim Rahman ~ Prepped for this must win outing to the limits - but without tossing more meaningful punches the luster is tarnished. Hasim has always been the proverbial walking, breathing puncher’s chance in style. Put the pressure on Toney but used it more to hold & hit, maul and grapple, than anything more serious. Won’t work once campaigning out of the WBC cocoon.

CONFUSION STILL EXISTS IN THE  HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION AS RAHMAN AND TONEY BATTLE TO A DRAW... by Chris Robinson
Moments ago Hasim Rahman retained his WBC Heavyweight belt with a  twelve round draw against James Toney in Atlantic City. The fight was more entertaining than many predicted, with Rahman appearing to deserve the verdict.

“MO MONEY, MO MONEY, MO MONEY” HASIM RAHMAN Vs. JAMES TONEY I... Sharkie's Machine by Frank Gonzalez Jr.
This was the best boxing I’ve ever seen from Rahman. He used his jab, kept good control of the tempo and even beat Toney at his own game too many times on the inside. At times, Rahman lost his focus and got drawn into Toney’s game on the inside but even when he did, he was at the least, equally effective. On the outside, Rahman used his jab effectively to control the pace, while winning most of the exchanges with stronger punching power.

JAMES TONEY: NEVER INTIMIDATED... by Jeff Mayweather
James Toney challenge to Hasim Rahman for the WBC Heavyweight Championship this Saturday night in Atlantic City, marks yet another meaningful fight in his career. I feel that James will come out on top but it is a dangerous fight, since Rahman has showed that if anything else, he can punch like a top heavyweight. This is a fight that can further add to Toney’s legacy and he’s approaching it like he has done his whole life, with no intimidation and a true belief in himself. That’s simply how James Toney is and how he’ll always be.

MOUTHPIECE 2006: RESPECT, PETER, AKINWANDE, TONEY AND MUCH MORE... by Stephen Jones
My opening compliments have to go to Joseph Calzaghe for the way he handled a tough challenger in Jeff Lacy with such ease last weekend at the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England. Joseph has been involved in many quality championship thrillers in the last few years of his reign, but even the Byron Mitchell, Chris Eubank and Charles Brewer classics couldn’t match Saturday's victory for signifying his dominance at Super Middleweight.

STILL WAITING TO BE SOLD ON HASIM RAHMAN... by Jeff Mayweather
When it comes to Hasim Rahman, I simply haven't been impressed. While some look to him as one of the most feared punchers in recent Heavyweight memory, I see a basic fighter who has yet to win me over. Rahman has tasted many highs and lows in this game and I guess on my end I have just never bought into the hype.

HEAVYWEIGHT THOMPSON ADDED TO RAHMAN - TONEY UNDERCARD
The old adage in baseball is that a team can never have too much pitching.  Boxing promoter Dan Goossen, in announcing the recent addition of Tony “The Tiger” Thompson to Goossen Tutor’s growing stable of talented fighters is establishing a similar credo in his sport:  “You can never have too many good heavyweights.”
