Five-time world champion Felix "Tito" Trinidad and eight-time world champion Roy Jones Jr.
spent all day at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., on Tuesday promoting their
upcoming match dubbed "Bring on the Titans" set for Jan. 19 at Madison Square Garden
and on HBO Pay-Per-View. ESPN staffers created huge lines for a 90-minute autograph
signing in the ESPN employee cafeteria by Jones and Trinidad.

ROY JONES JR. IS BACK AND STIRRING THE POT... by Mike Cassell/Philadelphia Boxing Report
"Right now that my name is back on top, I would be willing to drop in weight and break all the PPV numbers and fight him. Just like I went up to heavyweight, doing something that hasn’t been done in 106 years for the good of the game. Why wouldn’t Oscar be willing to get in the ring with me? He could get inside 160. I’m not asking him to gain 30 lbs like I did... He does not want to get into the ring with me. I took gambles for the history of the game. Why won’t these guys take gambles like I did? These guys call themselves pound for pound this and that, but they aren’t willing to risk nothing..."

JONES - TRINIDAD WEEK AFTER REPORT... by George Elsasser

Trinidad arrives off two year retirement - the mind ready as he answers the opening bell in typical all business approach - and what we see is Tito grabbing some three of five of the early stanzas.
But the signs were this would not be his night - Jones takes the early rounds off to get feel for the incoming - then, mixes slapstick with fight biz, in a look more suitable for vaudeville than the PPV fight prices that were lifted from the viewers.

OVER 500,000 PAY-PER-VIEW BUYS FOR JONES - TRINIDAD
Legendary promoter Don King, who was ranked #8 in a recent list of boxing's biggest powerbrokers, has proven that he has not lost the Midas touch.
King confirmed that Jones-Trinidad attracted a very respectful 500,000+ buys. The official attendance at the Garden was 12,162.
HBO will replay the Jones-Trinidad fight this coming Saturday night.

BRING ON THE TITANS: FELIX 'TITO' TRINIDAD vs ROY JONES JR... A complete report by Ricky Ray Taylor @ ringside
Round 10 - Roy drops his left and starts landing hard hooks and quick jabs from the waist; another left hook lands from Roy, answered by a Tito left hook and another overhand right followed by hard body shots, before Roy comes back with two hard rights. A lead right lands by Roy, he drops his hands and backs to the ropes - waiting; another 1-2 lands and Tito falls again! Roy tries to finish the show - flurries hard at the bell but Trinidad survives.

BRING ON THE TITANS UNDERCARD REPORT AND PHOTOS... by Ricky Ray Taylor @ ringside
Round 12 - Golota tries to find enough distance to land solid on an ever clinging Mollo, who looks to hold and survive. Time and time again in this round Mollo reaches to support himself up by grabbing Golota's waist. (Arms! Grab his arms, kid!) -  Golota moves in hard to close the show in the last thirty seconds and the crowd erupts! A hard left hook by Mollo at the bell brings the crowd to its feet as the bell signals the end of the bout. (Lopsided - yet pretty good fight!)
GOLOTA wins a unanimous decision 116-110, 116-112, 118-109.

DON KING RESOLVES GLOVE DISPUTE SO TITANS CAN CLASH TONIGHT...

TITO vs RJJ - A GUILTY PLEASURE... by Chris Ackerman
Almost universally panned by critics, analysts, writers and fans, this Saturday’s fight between two legends has been dismissed as meaningless, pointless, a disgrace, a black eye for the sport and a complete waste of time and money.  Both men are over the hill, shadows of their former selves, looking for one final big pay check and moment in the sun at the expense of the legitimacy of the sport and the loyalty and financial well-being of their fans.  How dare they, right?
With all the overwhelming negativity being generated over this so-called fiasco, it might be worthwhile to swing by the dollar store, pick up a pair of rose-coloured glasses and take another look.

‘HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL’ STAR CORBIN BLEU TO SING NATIONAL ANTHEM AT MADISON SQ. GARDEN AT TRINIDAD vs. JONES BOXING MEGA-BOUT LIVE ON HBO PAY-PER-VIEW

(2007), has been tapped to sing the national anthem at the highly anticipated boxing showdown between Felix "Tito" Trinidad and Roy Jones, Jr. on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. THE 'WHERE ARE THEY NOW' SERIES CONTINUES AS FORMER CHAMPIONS RETURN FOR A BIG PAYDAY... by Frank Gonzalez Jr.
So, here’s another Pay-Per-View event that makes you wonder what the criteria is for fights being on PPV? Do we really care if a seven year removed former Welterweight Champion fights a four year removed former Light Heavyweight and “Heavyweight” Champion? This match up is unfair and irrelevant. Curious that its going to be on PPV instead of regular TV.
Would we buy a PPV that featured Lamon Brewster against Jeff Lacy? How about Jose Luis Castillo vs. Johnny Tapia? Hell, why not just go for the gusto and see if we can get Sugar Ray Leonard to fight Riddick Bowe on PPV. Not only are these guys past it (or never had it in Lacy’s case) but they’re not even in the same divisions.

QUOTES FROM WEDNESDAY'S BOXING MEDIA WORKOUTS - JONES JR. GOLOTA, MOLLO & CORLEY
“Guess who’s back, Roy Jones Jr.,” Jones declared.  “Ain’t nobody got the speed to handle me.  Only Floyd Mayweather comes close to me and he’s still 10 miles an hour slower,” Jones quipped.

Jones, Andrew Golota, “Merciless” Mike Mollo and DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley all performed a light workout and answered questions.

JANUARY 19: ROY IS GOING TO BE "RAW" AGAIN AND TITO IS "CONFIDENT" AND "FULL OF PASSION"

“We can only imagine how many miles they have run and rounds they have sparred to get ready for this fight.  They have put themselves through very rigorous training camps.  They have great teams and they are ready.  They have promised the fans a great night of boxing.

“We look forward to Saturday night to a great event and a great beginning to another fantastic year of boxing.” - MARK TAFFET – HBO PAY-PER-VIEW

TRAINERS FELIX TRINIDAD SR. AND AL  MERKERSON'S  PRESS CONFERENCE TRANSCRIPT

ROY JONES JR. - THE KING WHO WOULD BE MAN... by Mike Cassell/Philadelphia Boxing Report
It is often said that life is more about the journey than the destination. For Roy Jones Jr., 51-4 (38 KO’s), truer words have never been spoken.  In his youth, and during much of his prime, Roy Jones Jr. was seemingly indestructible. He had a chip firmly placed on his muscular shoulders from day one, when he unfairly lost the gold medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Sometimes we forget just how dominant he was in the ring. A few losses can do that. He had the ability to make full grown men, world class fighters and championship caliber athletes, appear clumsy and amateurish. He was undisciplined, wild and completely unconventional. He did everything wrong in the ring. He often left himself open. He punched off balance and from inconceivable angles. His defense was his offense, and in the words of Muhammad Ali, he was a "bad, bad man."

ROY JONES JR. "GOD'S GAME ROOSTER"... by Martin Wade
After learning what life was like on the “D list” Roy Jones has become as accessible and “promotable” as he ever was when he was “the man.” Gone are the frustrating great Gatsby like tendencies, in their place is a man clearly giddy to be relevant again. Roy’s speech on Friday Night Fights, analogous to his patented 16 punch staccatos, ranged from chastising Joe Cortez to shamelessly calling out Joe Calzaghe. For a man so grumpy leading up to his second and third fights with Antonio Tarver, Roy seems determined to soak up what remains of his athletic mortality...
Floyd Mayweather should take note, because flirting with MMA, “sort of” promoting concerts and “playing” rap mogul won’t extend one's fistic prime.

BOXING TITANS MEET AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN ON JANUARY 19
“I’ve been trying to put these two superstars in a match for a long time and to get this done just leaves me breathless,” King exclaimed. “This will be a fight for the ages and will be remembered among the greatest events I have ever staged. Tito and Roy, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

BATTLE OF LEGENDS OR BATTLE OF HAVE-BEENS?... by Rizwaan Zahid
An upcoming fight between former greats Roy Jones and Felix Trinidad has been dubbed the Battle of Legends; however, one has to wonder the validity behind this title.  Roy Jones has not had a good win against a named opponent since his fight against John Ruiz which was over four years ago, while the former champion Felix Trinidad's last win was against a powerful but very limited Ricardo Mayorga.

THE BATTLE OF THE TITANS: AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE... ON PAPER ... by Ricky Ray Taylor
On paper this match up looks like an absolute masterpiece; two future Hall of Famers, Jones at 51 and 4 with 38 knockouts vs Felix's 42 and 2 with 35 KO's, have left a staggering list of victims in their wake in the past 15 years.  It's only when you start lifting up the veil that you begin to see the cracks in the contest...

TRINIDAD vs JONES SHAPING UP TO BE A VERY COMPETITIVE FIGHT!

Tito Trinidad:  "One month ago, I was not clear whether I would come back to boxing.  But right now I have made up my mind.  I have conversations with my manager and Don and finally everything has come together.  Everything has been agreed...  that I am ready to fight Roy Jones and Roy Jones is ready to fight me."
