Ten rounds: End of the year edition... by Tony Montgomery

Round 1, Manny Pacquiao: Manny Pacquiao owned 2009 in boxing. His victory over Oscar De La Hoya came late in 2008 and he kept on rolling into 09 with huge wins over Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto. It was not that long ago if I were to be asked who wins a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao I would have quickly answered Mayweather. After watching Pacquiao this year I honestly don't know how I would answer that question today. Floyd and Manny are the two best fighters in the world when they step into the ring anything can happen. I can make valid points on why both of them would win the fight. No crazy predictions claiming Pacquiao is going to get destroyed this time.

Ten rounds - And in other news... by Tony Montgomery
Round 1, Do Not Fight in Montreal!
If you are a fighter, DO NOT fight in Montreal, it's not worth it. If the officiating in the first Bute - Andrade fight didn't send up a big red flag, the judging in last night's fight between Ali Funeka and Joan Guzman must have. Funeka easily won the fight leaving little doubt in the minds of most. When the scorecards were read and the fight was called a draw you could hear the disgust of the fans and the HBO crew. So the message is simple, DO NOT FIGHT IN MONTREAL!

Round 3, Life outside the ring
"Pacquiao: The Movie" - A film based on his life came out in 2006. And if that's not enough Pacquiao himself is an action movie star in the Philippines. Heck, even Sylvester Stallone is planning to shoot a movie with him. In addition, Pacquiao was named one of the world's most influential persons in 2009 by Time magazine, and that's quite an honor, I may add. He has his own postage stamp and he even ran for a Congressional seat in 2007. About the only thing I think he can't do right now is beat Miguel Cotto.

Round 1, Mike Tyson
Mike Tyson and Don King have once again reunited. DK brought in the former undisputed heavyweight champion to add color commentary to his "Halloween Thrilla" fight card last Saturday night. I'll be honest, I didn't order the card which sold for a mere $5.99 but I'm glad to see Tyson get a chance. He is a true student of the sport and I would be willing to put his knowledge of boxing up against anyone in the business. As far as a Tyson return to the ring I wouldn't hold my breath and neither should you. But Mike Tyson does generate dollars and anytime big money is at stake crazy things tend to happen.

Round 7, Max Kellerman
I am so tired of this guy and I’ve came to the conclusion this guy will never grow on me NEVER. Why does HBO keep paying him to talk and talk and talk. Hearing his voice is like barb wire going through my ears. Yes I’ll admit he knows his boxing history but so do so many other people who don’t sound like they are going through puberty. Sadly with Larry Merchant semi-retired I think Max is here to stay.
