BOXEO TELEMUNDO CLOSES 2003 WITH A BANG DECEMBER 12 FROM MIAMI


On Friday December 12, 2003 Boxeo TELEMUNDO and All Star Boxing, Inc. "The New Generation" closes out the 2003 schedule with a Championship fight at Miccosukee Resort & Gaming in Miami, Florida.

In the main event former WBO World Champion and current WBA FEDECENTRO Bantamweight Champion Mauricio Martinez of Colon, Panama puts his Title on the line against former NABO Champion and World Title Challenger Sergio "Sirenito" Perez of Tijuana, Mexico. Martinez (22-5-1, 16 KO's) and currently ranked #5 WBO, #8 WBA, #9 WBC and #15 IBF has had a good comeback winning the WBA FEDECENTRO Title with a 3rd round knockout over former World Champion Francisco Tejedor and has 2 defenses over world rated contender Hugo Dianzo of Mexico and Evert Garcia. The Tejedor and Dianzo fights where held at Miccosukee. Perez (24-10-16 KO's) beat World rated contender and WBC Continental Americas Champion Jose Angel Beranza in his last fight before his home crowd in Tijuana.

"We are happy to close the 2003 with a good competitive fight," said Promoter Felix 'Tuto' Zabala, Jr. "This year we did 9 shows (4 at Miccosukee and 5 at Kissimmee Civic Center) and thanks to the support of the Press, fans, partners and sanctioning bodies all of them where successful; we are looking for a year of more action in 2004."

There will be a total of 7 fights, with the first bout starting at 8:00 PM. The main event will be televised live on TELEMUNDO at 11:30 PM.
