PAVLIK STEALS THE NIGHT - TAYLOR SLEEPWALKS BY SPINKS... by George Elsasser
The HBO Saturday twin-bill served up a WBC eliminator with power punching  Kelly Pavlik and Edison Miranda vying for a shot at middle champion Jermain Taylor in the main event with Cory Spinks.
Took no more than the opening bell to see which bout would steal the show - and if "Pantera" stole the pre-fight press conference - it was crystal clear Pavlik stole the nite with a round seven battering of the game Colombian.

JERMAIN TAYLOR, "MR. BEATABLE" ... by Martin Wade
When you look at Jermain Taylor, you resent him because within that “special package” lurks something brilliant, yet ordinary. Something we don’t want to admit is at a premium in an age when due process is often resented by the young. That “something” is Character. He’s just simply a tough SOB; if he were anything less, he’d have joined the ranks of exposed Olympians two years ago.  We have to do something to explain why he can be so fundamentally flawed and still give elite fighters hell.

WHY I'M PICKING PAVLIK... by Jim Amato

On May 19th in Memphis, on the undercard of the Jermain Taylor - Cory Spinks middleweight title fight there will be a battle to see who is next in line for a title shot. Undefeated Kelly Pavlik of Youngstown, Ohio will take on once beaten Edison Miranda of Colombia. The survivor should be the next opponent for the winner of Taylor - Spinks. If you're looking for fireworks, Pavlik - Miranda should provide them.
