Gallagher's Steak House, in the heart of midtown Manhattan, was the kickoff event for a colossal showdown between 2 GIANT Heavyweights.

Sam Peter is the reigning WBC Heavyweight Champ, a solid 255 lbs..  Peter has fought 10 times since Vitali last stepped into the square circle (in December 2004) and of those clashes he's won all but one - and would you guess who beat him?  Vladimir.  Vitali Klitschko weighed 270 lbs. in his last match-up with Danny Williams ~ which was almost 4 years ago and that will most likely be the tipping point.

Sam Peter showed at today's press conference late, very late, and long after Vitali had his way with us reporters.

VITALI:  "Sometimes a long break is good for the body.  But I will never lose my Boxing skills.  Of course my mother and my wife always worry about me but they also know that I have to do my job - the belt is much more important.  My main motivation in coming back is to be a World Champ with my brother.  The two of us have a dream to each be World Champions.  I also miss my World Title.  So, now we have to make this dream come true.  I will take my Title back.  I did not "lose" my World Title.  My two losses - with Byrd I was injured and with Lewis the Dr. stopped it.  Since I "gave" this Title up and didn't lose it, I feel that I deserve this shot.  Peter is the biggest puncher out there now and I don't think this fight will be a decision.  After nearly four years off this will be the most difficult fight of my career".

*My take:  Coming into this fight we all know what to expect with Sam Peter.  The guy has 23 KO's in his 30 wins and everyone of them came within 7 full rounds.  He comes out hard and heavy and the only one who has gone 12 rounds with him won the fight.  Since this was Peter's only loss it's quite unfortunate for him that it came at the hands of Vitali's brother and closest confidant.  If Sam Peters handlers are wise they'll study his fight with Vladimir intensely to be better able to predict what Vitali will look to do.

From Klitschko's perspective he has taken four years off and jumps back into the fray to take on the most dangerous fighter in the division.  Vitali never had a chance to really dominate in his prime because Lennox Lewis was always in the mix.  Yet, although Peter showed a great chin against Wladimir - he displayed a weak one against Jameel McCline.  Perhaps a few pages out of that particular playbook may be the active ingredients for a W.

Four years is too long. Sam Peter wins in 5...
