BRC INNER CIRCLE...
George Elsasser:
Personally I’m not all that convinced the Youngstown kid is
ready to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat. Puncher’s chance one may
argue; maybe, maybe not, since we haven’t as yet seen any cracks in the chin
construction of Taylor in some 28 unbeaten outings. pick here is
Taylor via unanimous decision - that is, unless Kelly turns up a bleeder -
then it’s late stanza TKO. (Read more

Stephen Jones:
It is one of the more anticipated fights at Super
Middleweight in recent years. Jermain has failed to convince most of us
since winning his titles, a lot of promise and often a lot of hot air..
Manny has made some differences to Jermain's outlook but he never sets the
world alight due to failings down the final stretch of the championship
rounds.
Pavlik has been a sleeper for a long time and against Miranda he woke us all
up plenty with a creative and dominant performance. Unfortunately I think
Taylor will remain victorious, still failing to convince in a close one on
points. Pavlik is very good but so is Jermain. Not great but still a
Champion.. Jermain Taylor Pts 12.. probably Unanimously..
Oleg Bershadsky:
This fight may actually be the strange case where a tested champion has more
to prove than the challenger. Taylor has some impressive wins on his record,
most notably against Bernard Hopkins and Cory Spinks. Yet his is the type of
success that raises more questions, largely do to the controversial nature
of his wins. The controversial draw with Winky Wright only adds to the
doubts surrounding Taylor’s ability.

Chris Ackerman:
Taylor
mirrors the effort and approach of his opposition...to do that and best or
at least match masters of the game says something. There used to be a fire
in him, maybe a guy who brings it will make him rise to the occasion. If he
can't beat Pavlik, what does that say about those guys? What I want to see
Saturday night is the emergence of a champion... if it's Kelly, cool. If
it's Taylor, cool. But questions about both guys will be answered, and that
will not be thanks to JT, but to KP who is a lot more fan friendly in style
than his opponent.

Ed Ludwig:
Jermain Taylor’s reign as champion has been less than stellar
thus far and part of it may be contributed to the quality of opposition he
has faced. Memories of disputed victories over Bernard Hopkins have not been
erased from peoples minds. Taylor has done
enough to win but at the same time nothing has been decisive that get boxing
fans talking.
Kelly Pavlik has a lot of fans talking and deservedly so after his thrashing
of Edison Miranda. He will make Taylor fight and he is a serious threat to
hand the former Olympian his first loss. This comes down to skill, heart and
who wants it more and after it’s all said and done I see Kelly Pavlik
raising his hands in victory by an eleventh round stoppage.
Martin Wade:
I like Taylor and I'm sticking with him. I think
Pavlik will force JT into the boxer envelope which was the thing that gave
us high hopes about him. Manny Steward will correct the going backwards
flaw and have Jermain circling the Youngstown slugger. It will be
interesting early but Taylor's been in too many big fights to fold in
rounds 8-12.
Frank Gonzalez Jr./Sharkie's Machine:
Taylor does deserve credit for
being a tough man to fight but his lack of 'quality' boxing skills might
be the difference in this one. Pavlik is strong and exhibits very credible
boxing prowess. If he catches Taylor during one of the brawling exchanges,
it could be lights out.
Pavlik has made his mark but beating Edison Miranda alone does not make a
champion. Pavlik has a lot less experience against top fighters than does
Jermain. Other than Miranda, who has Pavlik beaten? Zertuche? Bronco
McKart??
Let us not forget that Taylor beat B. Hop TWICE...mostly on spunk and
being busier. It's going to be a good fight. A defining fight. I like Pavlik to win but
scientific accounting doesn't support that pick.
Taylor is underrated and deservedly so after way smaller puffed up welter
weight Cory Spinks took him the distance. Pavlik may be overrated after
beating an undisciplined Edison Miranda.
I have to go with Pavlik by decision...a beat down decision. But to quote Donald Rumsfeld, "Who knows?"
Rizwaan Zahid:
I think both fighters have a lot to prove in this fight.
Coming off a string of narrow victories along with a draw against Winky Wright,
Jermain needs to prove that he's the undisputed middleweight champion for a
reason. Kelly, however, has to show that he is not just hype. Many have simply
judged him based on his fight with Miranda.

Jim Amato:
I think Kelly is going to have a lot of trouble with
Taylor's speed and movement. Pavlik likes to go to the body
though and he does it very well. Hopefully as the fight
wears on this will slow Taylor down.

Who do I think will win tonight? I am going to make a daring

FRIENDS...
This is
what we call in the boxing business a pick 'em fight!! The
reason I call this fight a pick 'em fight is, you have Taylor
who in my opinion has not looked good in his last several
fights, and who needs to look great in this fight!!! Pavlik,
on the other hand is hungry, determined, and stays in great
condition! Taylor has a problem staying focused throughout a
fight, and that was evident when he fought Spinks... Taylor
was not listening or could not do what was asked of him by
Emanuel Steward! Both are aggressive boxers! On paper, this
should be a great boxing match!!
I wish both gladiators the best of luck, and we wish no one
gets hurts!
Howard Davis
1976 Olympic Champion!
This is honestly a pick 'em
fight. I do like and I think we all love the desire and stick to it ness of
Pavlik. Reminds me of the days of Gene Fullmer's old fights, (as I've seen in
films), but I can't knock the champion quite yet, the opposition that
this man has faced is outstanding. I'm at a lost for words, do I go with grit
and hunger, or do I go with determination and ferocity? And I say ferocity,
because Taylor wants to prove he's a champion and a fighting champion. If you
twisted my arm I would say Taylor in an outstanding fight.

If I had to choose I would go with Kelly Pavlik. I think that he will win by
knockout in the middle to late rounds. I think that he is hungrier and will
seize the moment!
Kili-Scott
Taylor by stoppage
Edner Cherry, NABF lightweight champion
I think Pavlik is going to do it.
Chevelle Hallback, IBA International jr. lightweight champion
I think
this will be a great fight. Even though Taylor has looked
horrible in his last couple of outings I still believe he is
the better, more experienced fighter and will stop Pavlik in
10 rounds. Sure Pavlik destroyed Edison Miranda, but he beat
a slow fighter who's easy to hit. Also, if you look at the
list of guys Miranda has beaten, it's not that impressive.
Sure he stopped Howard Eastman and Willie Gibbs, but who have
those guys beaten since? Allan Green? He almost faced the
same fate against Colin McCarthy. Pavlik has looked
impressive, and one can't question his punching power, but
he's entering the big leagues now, and I don't think Taylor,
facing adversity now because of his lackluster performances,
will squander the opportunity to silence his critics and
cement himself as one of the very best in the sport.
Jermain Taylor TKO 10 Kelly Pavlik

Taylor has been truly dedicated in training camp and
is focused on making an example of Pavlik. Kelly is Taylor made style wise
for Jermain coming forward as a puncher brawler. If Taylor can stop backing
to the ropes when his opponent attempts to advance and fights more in the
way he did against Hopkins working the angles and stepping around Pavlik
creating openings then I feel he can wear Kelly down and finish him in the
later rounds.
Taylor by TKO in 10th.

Tremendous fight between the undisputed champion and the legitimate #1
contender. Jermain Taylor must be on his best to stave off the two fisted
power punching Kelly Pavlik, and he will. Jermain Taylor retains his
middleweight crown via unanimous decision.

I think I'll go with
Taylor this time. Don't know why, just a hunch.

Kelly Pavlik should beat Jermain Taylor by knockout
within 10 rounds. Pavlik is a tougher fighter and always
shows determination to win. He is a good boxer and has a devastating
power.
Oscar Borrás

Taylor by KO 5, perhaps even earlier.
While it is true Taylor hasn't looked that well in his last few fights, I
feel that he will demonstrate more ability and punching power, than in all
his previous fights.
Pavlik is a very strong young man, his record clearly states that, but
fighting Taylor is a new thing for him, a level at which he has never
performed in. Taylor is no Miranda.
Luis Ramos
Amateur Coach
I think that Taylor will rise to the occasion and make Pavlik
pay for coming forward in the early rounds. Jermain should then be able to keep
the action at a slower pace and on the outside where his precision jab can set
up combinations and catch Kelly with stinging counters en route to a unanimous
decision win.

I know that Taylor has not been up to par since changing

I think that
Kelly Pavlik will win by TKO in the 9th round.

Pavlik by late KO 9th or

impressive on his last outing. Pavlik will mount a constant attack on him
