Look up the word FALLACY in the dictionary
and you'll get "a deceptive, misleading, or false notion,
belief, etc." Perhaps the updated version should take it
a step further and place this Saturday's PACQUIAO/DIAZ match-up
as a footnote!
Truth said, I've been hard pressed to jump on the Pacquaio
bandwagon. Yes, he's flashy and has a magnetic charisma about
him, but his awkwardness & throw-for-the-fences demeanor in the
ring just always seemed to me like it had time limit written
all over it.
Pacquiao began to open my eyes in the first Morales rumble
which happened to be one of my all-time favorite fights. After
losing that nail biter, Pacman KO'd just about everyone he's
faced ~ INCLUDING Morales twice. For the record one has only
to look at the shell of a fighter that was left in Morales
since that loss (Morales has yet to win another fight).
The combined win-loss record of all of Pacman's opponents since
his loss to Morales, is a stunning 338-29; as a side note he is
UNDEFEATED against them. Okay, okay already, so it's fair to
say that I was wrong for not noticing this phenom sooner. Fair
enough.
Enter pitty-patting sensation WBC Lightweight Champ &
Saturday's opponent DAVID DIAZ. Yes, he's the Champ and OH yes
he can box ... but let's lift up the veil a bit and look
inside, shall we:
> Diaz is a 5' 6" southpaw with a 34-1-1 record and a KO ratio
of BELOW 50%
> Combined win-loss record of his last 5 opponents (all wins)
is 170-68
> Fought to a draw with the last Southpaw he fought in 2005
The last southpaw he fought, however, was never named RING
Magazines Fighter of the Year.
My money goes with Pacman knocking out this
paper tiger within 6.
'Nuff said!
