Yesterday's presser took place in historic YANKEE STADIUM. The spirit of
ALI/NORTON was force-fed to the media (as it blared through the amplifiers) as
today's new legends stood at home plate for photos.
Puerto Rico vs The Philippines; If there is one fight to watch this year - make
it this one, COTTO/PACQUIAO.
The only unfortunate downside to a fight of this magnitude is that it doesn't
happen often enough. MANNY PACQUIAO & MIGUEL COTTO is a mega-fight, our first
in a few years.
In fact, the only blemish in either man's career in the past 4 years (20
combined fights) is when MARGARITO "knuckled" out a victory over COTTO, thirteen
months ago. Basically laced with cement (Plaster of Paris) in each hand, it
still took Margarito 11 rounds to make Cotto take a knee.
MANNY PACQUIAO is 49-3-2 with 37 knockouts. Follow these numbers: He is 9-0
with 7 knockouts in his last 9 fights versus opposition whose combined record is
458-36-12. Sick.
MIGUEL COTTO would be sitting at 34-0 with 27 knockouts if his fight versus
Margarito were to be stricken from the record books (which it should be), all
things considered. Cotto most recently edged out a split decision over JOSHUA
CLOTTEY (whose only other blemishes at a 35-0 record were a DQ versus Baldomir
AND a decision loss to who else? MARGARITO). Cotto is a monster in the ring.
FIREPOWER will be broadcast live on PPV, November 14th.
