Historically, many of these battles have been contended with in the weakened moments before or "after" the hungry fighter steps off the scale. According to a number of sports nutritionists who are now implementing "fresh" new angles into athletic performance, boxers who do this will ALWAYS be taking momentum from their upcoming performance in the ring. Health issues aside, (don't ever talk "danger" to boxers, they simply won't buy it), if fighters know for CERTAIN that they won't be at their BEST if they have to sweat off 2 pounds before their fight then they will be MUCH more apt to pay attention to an alternative suggestion for shedding weight. Thus, a rule of thumb to live by in the weeks leading up to weigh-ins is:
NEVER PUT ANYTHING IN YOUR MOUTH AFTER 6pm.
If your workouts are late -good- go home and go to bed. If your
training session lets out before 6 PM, eat & let your body burn off much of
what's inside in the waning hours before sleep. Since our bodies tend to be
much less active late at night, what goes in our mouth will show on the scale. Brought to you by Saratogamist copyright 2001-200 4 |
