"JUST WIN"... AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH
MANAGER OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE HENRY FOSTER... by Chris Robinson
In
talking to Henry 'The Main Man' Foster I sense a man who mirrors Glen
Johnson in several ways. Both guys have been through a
lot to get where they are at today, both seem to be down
to earth as they continue to go about things, and both
work hard at what they do. 2005 looks to be another busy
year in boxing and we can surely expect Henry Foster and
Team Johnson to be well within the mix of things.
ONE WORLD, ONE LIFE, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT: An Exclusive Interview with
Trainer of the Year Candidate ORLANDO CUELLAR...
by Chris Robinson
Glen Johnson’s entire career has been an up and down
rollercoaster of a ride and it appears to be far from
over. Still, as good and determined a fighter as he is,
Johnson wouldn’t be where he is today without the help
of one man who goes by the title ‘Trainer
Extraordinaire.’

GLEN JOHNSON WINS THE BATTLE FOR BRAGGING
RIGHTS TO THE LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION... by Elisa Harrison
A Battle for Bragging Rights," the last major showdown
of the year 2004,
should be made mandatory viewing
for underdogs the world over, as perennial
underdog
Glen 'The Road Warrior' Johnson persevered to steal
the spotlight from
Antonio 'Magic Man' Tarver
in a spirited and hard fought championship battle.
LOOKING BACK ON 2004... by Chris Robinson
Some might not like to admit
it but 2004 was actually fast paced and action filled for much of
the twelve months. We saw great fighters continuing their quests
towards supremacy, many champions being dethroned, several
prospects rising to the moment, and upsets were abound all over the
year. From the top of my head, these are the fighters, moments, and
memories that stick out.
IS ANTONIO TARVER TURNING INTO....???
A GREAT NEW RIVALRY BEGINS... Sharkie's Machine by
Frank Gonzalez Jr.
Something special happened Saturday night at the Staples Center in Los
Angeles, Light-Heavyweight Champions Antonio Tarver (WBC Champ) and Glen
Johnson (IBF Champ) defied their Sanctioning Bodies, relinquished their
Titles and faced each other to show the world who’s really the best Light
Heavy between them.
In what had to be another humbling experience for Roy Jones Jr. , (one of
HBO commentators), who had to sit through clip after clip
of both Tarver and Johnson knocking him out, Tarver vs. Johnson was an
action packed fight unlike any fight Roy’s ever been in.
JOHNSON NIPS TARVER VIA SPLIT NOD...
by George Elsasser
Not sure of the exact round … maybe halfway mark, with quality head trainer
Buddy McGirt displaying signs of concern and shouting to Tarver for his
attention. Repeats to Tarver to look him in the eye when he’s talking. And while
McGirt is doing his best to make a point or two, there’s Tarver looking away and
speaking with joker leaning through ropes competing with Buddy...
TARVER-JOHNSON: A BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY... by Jeff Mayweather
Saturday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles California the boxing world
witnessed a great Light Heavyweight bout. It's too bad that both guys couldn't
win; the bout was a treat to watch as a fan. The fight was extremely close, and I
personally thought Tarver did win by the slightest of margins but not enough to
create any long, drawn out debate.
JOHNSON OUTWORKS TARVER, EARNS A SPLIT
DECISION WIN... by Oleg Bershadsky
While I personally thought that Tarver won the
fight I can’t complain because neither fighter dominated the
other and each round was closely contested. So hats off to both
fighters for giving us an exciting fight and showing that there
is life after Roy Jones in the light heavyweight division. This
was simply a case of one boxer landing the more accurate and
meaningful shots, while the other boxer was the busier of the two
and controlled the pace of the fight. In this case the judges
went with the later one of the two, but that is not even the
least of what’s important here. What’s important is that the
light heavyweight division has life again...
TARVER - JOHNSON: A LOOK BACK... by Chris Robinson
Taking a look back a few
years can be unreal. Things change so often that it can be hard
to fathom the paths of life that take place. It’s well known that
Roy Jones has recently suffered back to back knockout losses to
Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson, but very few could have foreseen
it happening a few years prior. For those three Light heavyweight
fighters tied together, a look back to the summer of 2000 offers
up a much different picture than today’s portrait.

UNDERCARD DECEMBER 18
"Remembering the pro
debuts of past Gold Medalists through the years, I just want to
carry the torch and put on a spectacular performance for the fans
on December 18,” said Ward.
