HOLT THUNDER STEALS MIAMI CARD By George Elsasser |
![]() |
Fact is you can't tell from the resumé alone ... and seeing is
sometimes no more than half-truths with these young unbeatens - but remember the
name Kendall Holt and file it under "future considerations."
A 22 year
old ... but in last night's semi-final he took on the look of a seasoned pro ...
and while it enters the books as KO1 over Gilberto Reyes it seems here to tell
much more.
Was no gimme this Reyes ... enters with a look of confidence
... opening bell has him showing some good things ... quick hands and ready to
go to war ... and over them opening 120 seconds he was the busier and seemingly
in control.
And then it comes ... at 2:23 seconds mark ... a shocking
inside counter left-hook to the sweet spot ... a lethal bolt of lightning that
likely lit up the outside Miami skies ... Reyes was out of it before heavily
hitting the canvas.
So what it seems we have here, is still another name
to be added to that growing list of futures at 140 pounds ... along with the
stunning eye catcher of a left hand power punch was the poise ... no flash and
dash ... textbook and disciplined behind a solid jab and seemingly in no
hurry.
And with that grand finale, the youngster, now at 15-0 with 11 by
knockout has earned a ticket on the express lane to bigger things.
Post
Scripts: Kendall Holt ~ The lethal weapon that stole the thunder at that
Miccosukee Resort, and today is surely the talk of the town, was once labeled as
an inside hook ... today they call it an uppercut ... matters not, when finding
the sweet spot, by any other name it's spelled Nite
All.
Gilberto Reyes ~ Only a kid himself at age 23 ... gotta wonder tho' ... enters at 8-1-1, 6 by
KO ... game and willing and can deal
with the usual suspects ... but got to wonder about the brain trust that feeds
him to a stranger with the demeanor of a gunfighter.
