After his victory over Maselino Masoe
first speculations on Felix Sturm’s future opponents quickly
surfaced. However, the WBA champion sticks to his principle –
Sturm wants to fight against the best opposition of his weight
class, and opponents won’t be selected rash.
"I would like to step into the ring against the best", Felix
Sturm said after winning his second world title in front of
seven million people watching live on ZDF on March 11 at Color
Line Arena of Hamburg.
"Of course we are proud of Felix’ victory and we are already
looking forward to the next Sturm [German for “storm”] in the
ring," Universum CEO Klaus-Peter Kohl predicted. "However, we
won’t make rash selections of his next opponent. We will
consider all options and then select the pairing which is most
attractive for the boxers and for the crowd.”
Klaus-Peter Kohl reacts to speculations that Felix Sturm would
allegedly shortly fight against IBF middleweight champion
Arthur Abraham. However, it was irritating to Universum and
other observers, that an offer was given to the media before
it was given to the Universum management. This sort of public
solo walk by other promoters doesn’t rattle Universum.
"Felix always stressed that he wants to challenge or be
challenged by the worldwide best boxers of his class. I’m
confident that we will soon know who is in this group", Kohl
said.
Currently Universum Box-Promotion prepares for it’s next event
in Kiel. Female featherweight world champion Ina Menzer, light
heavyweight contender Thomas Ulrich, and heavyweight forces
Alexander Dimitrenko and Sinan Samil Sam will step into the
ring on April 8 at Ostseehalle of Kiel near the Baltic Sea.
Tickets for the event on April 8 are available online in our
