NORMAN STONE ISSUES PUBLIC APOLOGY

Norman “Stoney” Stone, manager/head trainer for World Boxing Association heavyweight champion John “The Quietman” Ruiz, has issued a public apology for his behavior last Saturday night during the Ruiz-Andrew Golota fight at Madison Square Garden. Ruiz successfully defended his title, winning a unanimous 12-round decision.

“I accept the sanctions imposed by the NYAC (New York State Athletic Commission) through its director Ron Scott Stevens for my unsportsmanlike behavior at last Saturday night’s fight,” Stone said. “I want to specifically apologize to referee Randy Neumann, officials of the NYAC, and boxing fans in general. I’m sorry my better judgment was overcome by my emotions and it will never happen again.”
