STILL GOLDEN....

GBP CONGRATULATES THE NEW WBC JUNIOR MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, OSCAR DE LA HOYA

Ring rust?  What ring rust?  In his first fight in 20 months, ‘The Golden Boy,’ Oscar De La Hoya showed that he was better than ever, impressively stopping Ricardo Mayorga in six dominating rounds to win the WBC junior middleweight championship at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The end came at 1:25 of the sixth frame as De La Hoya scored his third knockdown of the fight, which was televised on HBO Pay-Per-View.

For De La Hoya, who improves to 38-4 with 30 knockouts, the win earned him an amazing ninth world title, spanning every division from junior lightweight to middleweight, and it was his 19th victory and 12th knockout in 23 championship fights.  And even more impressive is the fact that after close to 14 years in the pro boxing game, Oscar is still golden.

Golden Boy Promotions congratulates our president and our champion, Oscar De La Hoya.
