Well, Mike Tyson is finally finished. Actually, he was finished many years ago. Maybe now those that idolize Mike Tyson but don't know Kostya Tszyu from Micky Ward will admit that their role model and hero is finished in boxing. Every bully or thug is humbled when beaten. However, I'm willing to bet that all of Mike's "missionary work" talk is nonsense! Before the Lewis fight he was Mr. Badass!! He even bit Lewis' leg at a press conference just to show everyone what a tough guy he really is. After the fight he loves Lennox, kisses his baby on camera, and acts like he's suddenly a nice guy. If Tyson had won his last 3 fights I think he would still conduct himself in the same disgraceful manner. I think the only thing about him that's changed is the phony nice guy image he's trying to project ever since the Lewis loss. Mike Tyson will always be remembered as a circus act, and an embarrassment to the sport. Now, he has quit for the second time in a row. Typical bully. I'm glad he lost, and I hope he never again disgraces a boxing ring with his presence. If anyone should ever be banned from a Hall of Fame induction it's not baseball's Pete Rose. Rose never sexually assaulted women or bit off an opponent's ear, Rose never tried to bust balls and break arms to win, Rose never said horrible things about stomping children's' testicles or eating children, Rose never went to prison for rape, Rose never beat up senior citizens for a minor fender bender. Mike Tyson should never, ever, be held up as an example for any kind of good by induction into the International Hall of Fame of Boxing. He makes Tony Ayala Jr. look like Billy Graham and makes Sonny Liston look like Albert Einstein. The only fond memories I have of Tyson are his six losses. The Douglas fight and first Holyfield fight were especially sweet moments. Farewell to the biggest disgrace our sport has ever
known and the sorriest excuse for humanity bar none. Editor's Note: Bill Simpson is an avid boxing fan, a resident of Lockport, New York.
