DiBELLA'S BROADWAY BOXING SHOW

THE HAMMERSTEIN BALLROOM AT MANHATTAN CENTER

NEW YORK, NY

FIGHT #1

PRENICE BREWER 0-0-1 vs SHAVARIS BUIE Pro Debut; 4 rounds

Round 1 - Both come out strong, fast very little feeling out from either guy, hard bombs by each, Brewer is faster and though he got hit by a few bombs - he simply landed more.  BREWER

Round 2 - Brewer lands HARD left hook and Buie crumbles. Official time: 1:08

BREWER WINS 2nd rd KO

FIGHT #2

JORGE TERON 11-0-1 (8) vs LENNY DeVICTORIA 8-5 (2); 6 rounds

Round 1 - Teron starts out Boxing DeVictoria utilizing his reach throughout the round, power hooks from the outside with constant jabbing and circling pretty much sum it up for round 1. TERON

Round 2 - Long jabs by Teron followed by more power shots landed everywhere at will; the crowd senses knockout and begins screaming for it midway through the round. Devictoria comes harder and more aggressive & begins to land solid hooks towards the end but probably too little, too late on most cards. TERON

Round 3 - DeVictoria does better at moving his head which makes Teron start grabbing at him to hold him still, Ref cautions Teron for it. Afterwards it's more of the same, outside shots by a well polished Teron.  TERON

Round 4 - DeVictoria is loading up with his left hook - the only shot that's landed for him all nite, he eats 8 jabs followed by quick combinations in order to land one haphazard hook. Teron is on his toes more this round as he begins to pull away on the cards. TERON

Round 5 - Everything Teron does by now is ticking like clockwork, from quick pivots & right hand leads to doubling up on the inside are all impressing the judges as well as the crowd. TERON

Round 6 - Teron begins to sit down a little more on his punches, he remains flatfooted attempting to end the show. Two official judges agreed with my unofficial card, we had it a SHUTOUT for Teron.

TERON WINS A UNANIMOUS DECISION

FIGHT #3

PETER 'KID CHOCOLATE' QUILLIN 6-0 (5) vs BRAD AUSTIN 8-1 (5); 6 rounds

Round 1 - Quillin waits to counter & initially seems to be a step ahead of Austin in the SPEED & REFLEX departments. Quillin rocks Austin with thunderous shots but Austin stands his ground & trades back. Quillin wins round 1 with heavy aggression and power shots though Austin fights back enough to keep it relatively close. QUILLIN

Round 2 - Though Austin is holding his own, he is clearly outclassed by Quillin;  then it happens - a picture perfect straight right sends Austin sliding down the ropes onto the canvas. Austin springs up at 3 & rushes onto another series of hard blows to his forehead, the ref moves in - perhaps a bit prematurely at 2:05 of round 2.

QUILLIN wins by KO.

FIGHT #4

GARY STARK 16-0 (8) vs CARLOS DIAZ 9-6-3 (7); 8 rounds

Round 1 - Each fighter feels out the 1st minute, Diaz lands hard shots midway through but Stark rallies back hard at the end of the round with cleaner shots.  STARK

Round 2 - Plenty of pitty patting by Stark while Diaz loads up; on 3 separate occasions in this round Diaz misses with wide left hooks and is quickly countered by Stark, close round but Stark lands more frequently. STARK

Round 3 - Diaz shows more aggression and lands big shots to start the round; has Stark on the ropes fighting back and waving him to "bring it on." Stark does just that as he spins off the ropes and corners Diaz, lands a quick combo and nearly rallies to win the round, but doesn'tDIAZ

Round 4 - Starks stalks Diaz, who seems to take the round off, then a left hook to the body backs up Stark and appears to have hurt him until he rips another four- punch combo off Diaz' head and gloves. Stark begins showboating at the end of the round.  DIAZ

Round 5 - Plenty, plenty of flurries from Stark this round to the high gloves of Diaz, not much by way of clean power shots landed by either fighter though Stark was busier.  STARK

Round 6 - Plenty of long, straight jabs by Stark followed by more flurries. Diaz lands some shots off the ropes that may win the round on  some cards - but not mine.  STARK

Round 7 - Diaz seems to have lost plenty of steam after round 6, he does not put  his punches together this round. Diaz follows Stark around the ring eating jabs, Stark finally catches Diaz with an overhand right that wakes the crowd up but Diaz continues to sleepwalk through the round.  STARK

Round 8 - Diaz misses plenty this round as he tends to load up and try to steal the fight. Stark boxes him beautifully in this, the last round. STARK

STARK WINS A UNANIMOUS DECISION

FIGHT #5

EDGAR 'EL CHAMACO' SANTANA 18-2 (12) vs VLADIMIR KHODOKOVSKY 12-9-2 (3); 10 rounds

Round 1 - Santana is cool and confident stalking Khodokovsky, landing very few clean shots to the southpaw but landing nonetheless.  SANTANA

Round 2 - Khodokovsky has little effect driving Santana to the ropes. He is clearly overmatched, this fight looks to be a mismatch of dire proportions.  SANTANA

Round 3 - More of the same as Santana attempts fruitfully to close the show with a vicious body attack, all to no avail - Khodokovsky remains standing, and struggling, and limping - but standing regardless.  SANTANA

Round 4 - Khodokovsky starts the round by looping his left at Santana and surprisingly finds some success at it, it's quite obvious though that Khodokovsky's power was left in the Ukraine when he boarded his plane. Santana stalks, Khodokovsky retreats.  SANTANA

Round 5 - Khodokovsky opens the round showboating, showing little respect for Santana's power or obvious dominance, If Khodokovsky had more power it may have made a difference due to some of his clean shots which land...  SANTANA

Round 6 - Khodokovsky shows that his heart outweighs his skill by a high volume. Khodokovsky takes a licking in round 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 - ALL in the same manner, ALL in the same fashion. Why break it down when we've seen it all before?  The only fighting taking place during this duel is between the DiBella and whoever sold him this particular match-up!

SANTANA WINS A UNANIMOUS DECISION

FIGHT #6

DAVID ESTRADA 18-3 (9) vs CLARENCE TAYLOR 11-9-2 (5); 10 rounds

Round 1 - Estrada comes out showing his strength, Taylor does well at using his long arms but not enough to win the round.  ESTRADA

Round 2 - Estrada is obviously stronger and continues to work his way into Taylor's reach with ease, Taylor is already cut over his eye and is already looking flustered for his inability to keep Estrada off him.  ESTRADA

Round 3 - More of the same with Taylor landing a few more good shots but having his head ratcheted back too much to win the round. ESTRADA

Round 4 - Taylor is demonstrating glimpses of having an aggressive nature, yet he keeps swinging his long arms with his chin way up in the air. Estrada lands long shots on Taylor but both fighters are extremely wide this round. ESTRADA

Round 5 - Both guys are sloppy by now. Estrada begins to tighten up with some nice body work here though as his shots echo through the crowd.  Taylor retreats to survival mode already.  ESTRADA

Round 6 - Estrada lunges with wide bombs and Taylor - who at a much slower pace - is doing just the same thing, each fighter looks old and seems to have had better days behind them. ESTRADA

Round 7 - Taylor is eating so many overhand rights that ONE thing is clear - either David Estrada has no power OR Taylor is one tough hombre. ESTRADA

*Taylor's corner mercifully calls it quits after round 7  (Whew!)

FIGHT #7

DIMITRY SALITA 25-0-1 (15) vs FRANCISCO CAMP0S 21-7-1 (12); 10 rounds

Round 1 - Campos comes out landing straight shots on Salita & you hear crickets chirping, Salita throws a nice combo and the crowd erupts into a frenzy (just so we know whose town we're in)., Salita dominates most of the opening round, then with less than a minute left, Campos unleashes a blistering left hook to Salita's temple, Salita is rocked terribly and falls against the ropes just before the bell; that punch won him the round on my card. CAMPOS

Round 2 - Campos is no pushover and though he's definitely not as strong as Salita, he seems to be finding his way inside of Salita's looping shots. Campos rocks Salita AGAIN, much harder this time with another long right hand in a round that Salita seemed to be controlling.  CAMPOS

Round 3 - Plenty of misses in the first minute, Salita finally lands a solid hook but Campos shakes it off and keeps his aggression. Salita simply lands more this round.  SALITA

Round 4 - Salita is on his toes scrambling around the ring perhaps getting away from Campos much weaker YET "precise" punches.  Campos is concentrating on straight shots - right down the pipe with an occasional hook to the body thrown in. Salita jabs well this round catching Campos and Campos counters with nice jabs of his own.  SALITA

Round 5 - Salita continues to dance on the outside. Salita comes in with a 7 punch flurry, ALL punches were slipped by Campos. Salita misses plenty this round - gets hit and looks to possibly be hurt again until he begins to rip apart Campos with 1-2's.  SALITA

Round 6 - It's very clear that unlike the last 2 opponents, Campos came to fight, He  seems to have Salita very defensive-minded and not taking any chances, plenty of tying up in this round. Salita lands the first big shot of the round with a long right hand lead, Campas keeps on missing until Salita gets on his toes and jabs away with :30 left.  SALITA

Round 7 - Salita misses with rights but lands stiff jabs. Campos is leaning in trying to land, Salita keeps catching him coming in as he backpedals. Salita boxes on his toes and begins to let loose on Campos as he seems to have figured out Campos' range much better this round. SALITA

Round 8 - Each fighter is cautioned by the ref for holding and the crowd boos.  Salita lands clean shots on Campos now, Campos is still the aggressor yet not much coming by way of offense. Salita is clearly winning the round, drops his hands low and shows that he's got Campos figured. Campos gets frustrated and begins to eat leather as he starts getting carelessly aggressive.  SALITA

Round 9 - Salita is looking sharp, boxing Campos until Campos steps in with a double jab/right hand combo. Salita dances away after eating that right hand and never gets the points back.  CAMPOS

Round 10 - Campos comes out throwing rights.  He is fighting hard, like he needs the round and on my card he's right. Salita is reaching to grab and hold, cut and bleeding badly over his left eye from so many of Campos' right hands. Both fighters are tired but staying busy this round, Salita cannot see out of his left eye due to all of the blood, Salita lands a hard left hook - his best of the fight with just seconds to go in the round - Campos is stunned for 5 seconds but comes back hard, too late, though.  SALITA

CLOSE BUT UNANIMOUS DECISION FOR SALITA
