Chris Martin out worked rising
prospect Chris Avalos last night in Hinckley, MN. Martin was the much busier
fighter through out the ten round bout landing flush shots to the head and
body. Avalos' offensive attacks looked solid but were few and far between.
When the final bell rang it was Martin's hand raised in victory via split
decision with the scores of 98-92 Martin, 97-93 Martin, and 98-94 Avalos.
The Co-Main event featured cruiserweights Lateef Kayode and Alfred Escalera
Jr. The early rounds saw good action from both fighters though it was clear
Kayode had the edge in both speed and power. As the fight entered the middle
rounds Kayode took control of the fight hurting Escalera with body and head
shots. The ninth round would be he last as Kayode put the finishing touches
on his opponent scoring a TKO with one second on the clock.
Minnesota's best middleweight Andy Kolle made easy work of Daryl Salmon with a
first round stoppage.
Rugged ring veteran Matt Vanda scored a third round TKO over Jose Medina.
Vanda, the more skilled of the two, picked Medina apart during the three
rounds.
Welterweight Michael Anderson scored a third round TKO over Hector Orozco.
Anderson fought cautiously in rounds one and two. In round thee Anderson
opened a body attack that would send Orozco to the canvas on three occasions.
Former heavyweight contender Mo Harris upset current heavyweight contender
Nagy Aguilera. Harris out worked Aguilera during the ten round bout using his
longer reach much to his advantage.
