The Mertz Mortorelli Gym in Superior, Wisconsin hosted the "Superior Jungle Rumble II" this past Saturday night. The main event featured Zach "Jungle Boy" Walters of Duluth, Minnesota, against Chicago, Illinois Ali Supreme.  Both fighters came out working behind their jabs, but it was Walters who saw an opening and took advantage sending Supreme down for the first of three knockdowns.

Supreme easily beat the ten count and continued to fight. After the knockdown, Supreme offered some offense of his own, throwing wild hooks to the Walters' head, missing with most but a few managing to find their target. Walters really turned up the pressure in the second round, pinning Supreme against the ropes. Walters threw a barrage of punches that found their mark sending Supreme to the canvas for the second time. Supreme was again able to regain his footing but it would not be for long as Walters again trapped him, this time in the corner landing vicious shots to the head. Surpreme slumped to the canvas for the third and last time. Supreme would make it to his feet but referee Jeff Nass had seen enough and called a halt to the bout. With the victory Zach Walters improves his record to 20-2 (15 KO's) while Ali Supreme falls to 15-8 (8 KO's).

The co-main event featured hot middleweight prospect Andy "Kaos" Kolle of Fergus Falls, Minnesota,  against Bradley Thompson of Brookwood, Alabama.  From the opening bell the fight was all Andy Kolle's,  who landed everything but the kitchen sink. It wasn't until the second round the brutality really begun. Kolles' devastating punches began to swell Thompson's face and bloody his nose. Kolle set up two knockdowns in the second round with punishing body blows followed by rights and lefts to the head. Thompson showed his mettle; in the third round he demonstrated how he may be too tough for his own good. The punishment Thompson took from Kolle in the third round would make even the most hardened of fight fans cringe.

Thompson wore a bloodied mask on his face as he was sent to the canvas five times in the second round. Thompson would rise from each knockdown to take more punishment offering little offense of his own. Finally after the fifth knockdown the referee decided he had seen enough. The referee is not  the only one to blame for not stopping the carnage; Thompson's corner should be ashamed of themselves for letting their fighter take the beating he did. With the loss Bradly Thompson falls to 15-11 (10 KO's) while Andy Kolle improves to 15-1 (12 KO's). Next for Andy Kolle is a Minnesota super showdown against Matt "The Predator" Vanda on November 17th at the Myth nightclub in Maplewood, Minnesota.

Middleweights Andson "The Wild Man" Griggs of Duluth, Minnesota squared off against Nick Whiting of Bemidji, Minnesota in a four round fight.  Whiting who clearly had the height and reach advantage over Griggs tried to use his jab to keep the much shorter Griggs away. However, Griggs would not be denied as he weaved his way inside to land a hard body shot followed by a lunging right hook that sent Whiting to the canvas in the first round. Whiting was able to beat the ten count and the fight continued. Griggs worked the body excellently for the remaining of the first round. Whiting did his best to stay away from the charging Griggs the last three rounds of the fight but he was never able to shut Griggs down. At times Griggs would do his best Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker impression, bending low at the waist and slipping punches to offer his own. In the end Andson Griggs hand was raised in victory with a unanimous decision. With the win Griggs improves his record to 1-0-1 (0 KO's) while Nick Whiting falls to 0-5. After the fight Griggs trainer Chuck Horton could be heard saying  Dave Peterson Where are you?

Light Welterweight RJ "T-REX" Lasse of Duluth, Minnesota made his pro debut against Raphael Magdaleno of Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Lasse came out with blazing hand speed and with bad intentions behind each punch in the first round while Magdaleno came forward with a more wild style, throwing punches from unorthodox angles. It was clearly obvious that Lasse was the more schooled of the two fighters showing impressive skills in his pro debut. Lasses' punches made the right eye of Magdaleno swell and added a small cut under the left on his way to a winning decision.  With the win, RJ Lasse gets his fist professional win while Raphael Magdaleno drops to 0-5

The night got started with Brad Patrow of St. Paul, Minnesota making his pro debut against Jesus Velasquez also of St. Paul.  Patrow made easy work of Velasquez pounding out a four round decision. With the win Brad Patrow begins his professional career 1-0 while Jesus Velasquez remains winless at 0-10.

This fight card was the first of Horton Promotions three-fight season; the next card will be held on February 23.
