The Grand Casino Hinckley, located in Hinckley, Minnesota, hosted a triple header on Showtime’s boxing series Shobox, The New Generation.

The main event featured a ten round middleweight bout squaring off Fernando Guerrero against Jessie Nicklow. It was clear from the start that southpaw Guerrero held a clear advantage in the skill department. Nicklow wouldn’t go away easily, trying his best to impose his will and ability to take a punch. Often times both men stood toe to toe trading punches but it was always Guerrero who got the better of the exchanges.

Guerrero’s speed and power became too much for Nicklow to handle in the fourth round. A Guerrero right hand dropped Nicklow in the fourth round. Nicklow was able to beat the ten count only for the beating to continue. To Nicklows credit he showed grit even on unsteady legs but the beating he was taking was starting to become unnecessary forcing referee Mark Nelson to call a halt to the bout at the 2:09 mark of the fourth round. Fernando Guerrero kept his record perfect improving to 17-0 (14 KO’s) while Jessie Nicklow drops to 19-2-2 (7 KO’s)

Shawn Porter looked very impressive against Jamar Patterson. Porter threw punches in bunches with blinding quickness to the head and body. Patterson was never able to find his rhythm as Porter seemed to get stronger as the rounds passed. A lunging left hook in round four dropped Patterson to the canvas; he was able to beat the count only to be stopped moments later. Shawn Porter improves his record to 12-0 (9 KO’s) while Jamar Patterson drops to 8-1 (4 KO’s).

The night's televised portion of the card got under way with welterweight Said El Harrack and Lanard Lane. Harrack's clear size advantage meant nothing to Lane, who came rushing out of the gate dropping Harrack twice in the first round. Harrack spent most of the first round on shaky legs but was able to make it out of the round. Harrack managed to get some offense going in the second round but it wouldn’t be long until he found himself once again staggered by Lane's offense, forcing referee Mark Nelson to stop the bout. Lanard Lane improved his record to 10-0 (6 KO’s) while Said El Harrack falls to 8-1 (3 KO’s).

Cerresso Fort and Mike Davis fought an entertaining middleweight bout. Fort was clearly the more polished of the two fighters but  Davis showed no fear, willing to take punches to land his own. It was this attitude that found him on the canvas more than once. Cerreso Fort scored a second round TKO keeping his record perfect at 9-0 (8 KO’s) while Davis falls to 4-7 (4 KO’s).

Gary Russell Jr. wowed the crowd with his blazing hand speed against Rodrigo Romero. Russell was so dominate it appeared as he was toying with Romero through out most of the bout finally putting the hammer down in round three stopping :38 second mark. Russell is now 6-0 (3 KO’s) while Romero drops to 1-3.

Colossal heavyweights Kelvin Price and Julius Long fought to a six round decision. Price, the smaller of the two at 6’7" got off to a slow start as the 7’1" Long dropped Price in the second round. After the knockdown, Long began to tire quickly giving Price the opportunity to start some offense of his own. In the sixth and final round both men, now looking exhausted, did their best to land the final blow but it never came, as the final bell sounded to end the fight. Price won a unanimous decision.

Amateur standout and now professional prospect Javontae Starks made quick work of Mike Culbert stopping him in the first round. Culbert's corner threw in the towel after the second knockout. Starks is now 2-0 (2 KO’s) while Culbert is 1-1 (1 KO’s).

Jeremy McLaurin won a four round decision over very game Darryl Hayes. Both men landed hard shots but it was McLaurin landing the more telling punches. In the end all three judges scored it in favor of McLaurin keeping his record perfect at 6-0 (4 KO’s)

Derek Winston got the night under way scoring a four round decision over Taide Torres.
