VELARDEZ STOPS VANDA, DUNNE ROLLS ON

Showtime's Shobox series featured two undefeated prospects Thursday night August 19th. The pride of East St. Paul Minnesota, Jr. Middleweight Matt "The Predator" Vanda got the televised fight card rolling in a 10 rounder against Armando "El Gallo Negro"  Velardez.

Armando begun to work the body early in the night, and his game plan would pay off as shots to tee off  Vanda's head would open later in the bout. In the seventh round Armando stunned Vanda but not enough to send the him to the canvas. In the eighth round Armando dropped Vanda twice before referee Mark Nelson called a halt to the match, 45 seconds into the round.

Armando Velardez improves his record to 18-3 (9 KO's) while Matt Vanda drops to 31-1 (21 KO's).

The Main event featured Dublin, Ireland's Bernard "Ben" Dunne against Adrian "El Gallero" Valdez. Dunne had his hands full against Valdez throughout the entire match as the southpaw Valdez came to fight. Both fighters would suffered cuts in the bout but nothing serious enough for a stoppage.

In the end the judges scored it 96-95,96-94, and 97-93 in favor of Bernard Dunne who improves his record to 14-0 (8 KO's) while Adrian Valdez drops to 14-2-3 (7 KO's).
