CASTILLO & CORRALES MAKE IT #3

Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo have fought for a combined 14 rounds in the ring. All 14 rounds have been filled with non-stop action that left both fighters and fans wanting more.

Their first meeting has been called one of the greatest fights in boxing history with Diego Corrales getting off the canvas to stop Castillo. However, the first meeting was also met with controversy as Corrales' mouthpiece fell out -or as it looked was spit out by Corrales himself- buying him much needed time in between knockdowns. The extra time gave Corrales enough energy to turn the tables on Castillo forcing referee Tony Weeks to stop the fight.

The second fight was marked with controversy before the fighters even entered the ring. One of Castillo's team members put his foot under the scale hoping to  alter the weight and give Castillo the badly needed extra help to make the contracted weight of 135 pounds.

Castillo was fined and his team member suspended but the fight did take place. The second fight did not match the intensity of the first as it only lasted 4 rounds;  this time Castillo was the victor.

On June 3rd these two warriors will once again square off in a scheduled 12 round bout.  As a boxing fan, part of me wants to see a repeat of the first fight;  however, the other half of me cannot imagine either man absorbing any more  punishment than they have already taken. Knowing these two and judging from their first two bouts, number three will no doubt be an action packed slug fest whether it goes one round or the full 12.
