ERIK MORALES: NOW WHAT?... by Chris Ackerman
Zahir Raheem shredded the legendary Erik Morales in front of a stunned
pro-Mexico crowd at the Stapes Center on Saturday night. It was a lop-sided
beating of staggering proportions that reminds one of Leonard-Duran II,
Mayweather-Corrales or vintage Roy Jones vs. Most Guys. Raheem even showed
their swagger and posturing. Morales is a tough, gritty and seasoned veteran
who loves to go to war but it looked as though he may have been sleeping in
silk sheets since his war with Manny Pacquiao. He looked stiff, slow and a
little soft around the middle.
RAHEEM SHOCKS MORALES; PACQUIAO KO'S VELAZQUEZ... by
Tom Dickey, ringside
Anyone who thought Saturday night's "Double
Trouble" card would be simply tune up fights was sadly mistaken. In
the main event, Erik Morales was shocked by Zahir Raheem, who
won a 12
round unanimous decision. For Morales, it was his first loss to
someone not named
Barrera. Raheem was able to utilize his speed, and at times even
power, to get a clear cut decision in front of a crowd of 10,584
boxing fans, most of them Morales
supporters.
BRIAN VILORIA CAPTURES WBC BELT WITH 1ST ROUND KO OF ERIC
ORTIZ... by

knocked out Eric Ortiz at the end of the first round to capture the WBC light
flyweight title.
'EL TERRIBLE' JUST TERRIBLE vs Z MAN... Sharkie's Machine by Frank
Gonzalez, Jr.
Styles make fights. It's cliché but it was a reinforced fact
Saturday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where one of boxing’s best
fighters, Erik “El Terrible” Morales, 48-3-0-34 KO’s, was just plain terrible
against Philadelphia native, Zahir “Z Man” Raheem, who out boxed and beat
Morales to the punch for most of their 12 round fight.
ZAHIR RAHEEM HAS ARRIVED... FINALLY!...
by Jeff Mayweather
The events of Saturday night at the Staples Center will erase
all that happened on July 17, 2004, the night Zahir went against Juarez.
The challenge put before Raheem on
Saturday night was against a solid, proven champion and future
Hall of Famer, a world champion of three different weight
classes. Raheem was not to be denied.
RAHEEM UPSETS MORALES OVER TWELVE; PACQUIAO GETS BACK TO
FORM WITH TKO WIN..
by Chris Robinson
Moments ago at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California Erik
‘El Terrible’ Morales ran into a brick wall in the form of Zahir
Raheem, losing a unanimous decision by scores of 118-110, 116-112,
and 115-113. Whether it was a case of all his wars catching up with
him or the possibility of overlooking his foe for bigger bounty down
the line, Morales seemed lethargic from the outset and wasn’t able
to amount a sustained attack against the Philadelphia native.
