OUMA PROVES TO BE TOO MUCH FOR POWELL WITH DECISION WIN... by Chris Robinson
In a match up of classy southpaw stylists, Kassim ‘The Dream’ Ouma overcame a slow start and eventually shut down Sechew Powell for a unanimous decision win. Scores of 100-90, 97-93, and 96-94 all favored the Ugandan fighter, who took Powell out of his element with a heavy dose of pressure and non-stop punching.

OUMA, FORREST CLAIM GARDEN WINS... by George Elsasser
The HBO Saturday double-dip played the Garden - make that the Theater - at the once celebrated big tent  of past rodeo, circus, and top of the line fist fights - and when the smoke cleared it was Kassim Ouma claiming a well earned decision over rookie Sechew Powell, and Vernon Forrest nipping Ike Quartey. The opener saw recently deposed jr. middle shareholder Kassim Ouma in with hot undefeated prospect Sechew Powell - a battle of solid southpaws that quickly got things off on a positive note.

...Then the scores were read, 96-93 and 95-94 twice…all in favor of Vernon Forrest. Judge Tony Paolillo was the one with the 96-93 scorecard. If you consider the lost point in the ninth, Paolillo only gave three rounds to Quartey, who according to the tabulations, landed more punches overall and at a considerably higher clip than Forrest.

That decision pissed off the fans at The Garden, who could smell the corruption and chanted, “Bullshit! Bullshit! Bullshit!” Whoever said foreign fighters get a fair shake in the USA?
During the post fight interview with HBO’s Larry Merchant, Forrest said he wanted to thank God. Merchant quipped, “And don’t forget to thank the Judges.”

QUARTEY HELD UP IN NEW YORK CITY... by Mike Casile/PBR
It is very hard for people who are fight fans to swallow the crap that was spoon fed to them on national television last night. With boxing ratings getting lower and lower, the sport cannot afford to lose the fringe fan. The die hard fans, will always be there to push around, we love the sport, but the fringe fans, the ones who may buy that pay per view ticket, or buy a ticket to see their local favorite pound it out at a small arena in their town, those are the ones that will turn to the UFC and fake wrestling. I guess they figure if they are going to get conned, why not get conned by professional actors.
