SHANE MOSLEY:
SWEET AS EVER! ... by Jeff Mayweather
The 'Tijuana Tornado' faced a
focused and determined Sugar Shane Mosley. Going into the fight Shane's mettle
would be tested by Margarito along with his mental capacity to block out all the
negative things that were happening in his life. Having to admit his part in the
BALCO Investigation, and being served with divorce papers while in training camp
had to be devastating blows. However, when faced with adversity one either rises
above it or one fails, by allowing one's misfortunes to mentally break you down.
Not on this night. Shane Mosley would not be denied, and neither BALCO nor Jin
Mosley would deter his focus.
ANTONIO MARGARITO, HEAVY LIES THE CROWN... by Kenny Perrault
On July 28th 2008 I was in complete awe
of Antonio Margarito's winning performance over Miguel Cotto. I
was in such awe I pronounced him the new welterweight king. I
called out Floyd Mayweather Jr. on his behalf daring Floyd to
come out of his then retirement and face the welterweight
monster that is Margarito.
Now fast forward to January 24th 2009, I am
attending a boxing card in Hinkley, Minnesota, in which Roger
Mayweather is helping work a corner. In between fights I run
into Roger and start talking boxing. I became a sponge,
absorbing all the information he was giving me.
MOSLEY BATTERS
MARGARITO - GRABS WBA STRAP VIA TKO... by George Elsasser
Former multi-title holder Shane Mosley
looked anything but an aging veteran of fifty prior kept
appointments, as he battered defending WBA welter champion
Antonio Margarito from start to finish.
Margarito simply could not get off against the quicker handed
Mosley - the accumulative right hands scored again and again
before it took its toll - a Mosley barrage dropped Margarito
late in stanza eight - and the handwriting on the proverbial
wall hinted the tough Mexican was as good as cooked.
MOSLEY
DOMINATES MARGARITO... by Frank Gonzalez Jr.
Saturday night in Los
Angeles, 30 year old, former WBA Welterweight titlist Antonio
'Tijuana Tornado' 'Margarito (37-6, 27 KOs) saw his iron chin
turned to tin, as he was beaten in every round by 37 year old
'Sugar' Shane Mosley (46-5, 38 KOs), who peppered Margarito with
his jab and hammered him with his right hand, silencing the
pro-Margarito crowd at the Staples Center as he broke Margarito
down, culminating in a knockout in the ninth round.
MOSLEY TROUNCES
MARGARITO WITH 9TH ROUND TKO, WINS WBA WELTERWEIGHT TITLE...
by Larry Flores
The 4-1
favorite Margarito, riding a 3-bout win streak that included a
career defining TKO victory over Miguel Cotto and a KO win
over Kermit Cintron, was no match for the elusive Mosley. From
the opening round, it was obvious that Mosley's quick
combinations and side-to-side movement would prove to be his
plan of attack against the hard punching champion.
