Leading up to the Miguel Cotto - Manny Pacquiao fight I went
on record picking Miguel Cotto as the winner. I even
went as far as saying Miguel Cotto would destroy Pacquiao.
After the article was published I took a lot of heat from
Pacquiao fans.
I was called an idiot and a poor
journalist, among other things.. Many said that
when, (not if, but when), Manny Pacquiao won I would go away never to be heard
from again.
Well, dear fans,
I assured you that if Manny Pacquiao were to win I would not go
anywhere and I haven't. I will admit I was wrong on the
outcome of the fight; but let's not forget this is a sport
and you don't always pick the right winner.
Many of you took what I said to heart and I must tell you
that even in victory you are poor sports.
I'll say it again I was wrong in
my prediction of the fight.
And, as I have done in the past I will once again answer some
of the comments you posted in the Braggingrightscorner.com

Here're are perhaps few to get you started:
1) Help Mayweather Sr. get the 'steroid
use' allegation going for a bit of momentum
2) Cotto was NOT IN HIS PRIME, maybe he was 'dehydrated'
too just like ODLH
3) Cotto had too much pressure and was 'psyched out' by
Team Pacquiao (this is not fair is it Tony, how dare
they?)
4) Team Cotto were a bit inexperienced and need more time.
(Good excuse for a rematch, Tony?)
5) "Bigger is better" right, Tony? And cite 100 examples
where this is in fact true.
6) Emphasize that MP is a 'freak' and not really a good
example. (Will add credibility to your steroid allegation)
Please do not feel obligated to use the above-mentioned
examples as I'm sure your pearly drops of wisdom will
enlighten us all I'm sure.
My Response: Joe if you had read my
article(s), you would know that I didn't buy into the Manny
Pacquiao steroid allegations. You are not the first
Pacquiao fan to bring up the steroid allegations. I don't
believe it, but quite frankly, I can't help but wonder, why
so many keep bringing it up?
I've
noticed from many of the Forum posters that you love to put words in
my mouth. Why do you get so upset because I picked
Manny Pacquiao to lose? Manny is a fighter and as such he can
lose any fight, that's the sport of boxing. You act as if
Manny Pacquaio is the second coming; truth be told he is a
human being just
like you and I. The reason Pacquiao won the fight is simple.
He was the better fighter on fight night. I was wrong in
my prediction but in no way does that mean I don't know boxing.
Can't get them all right, but I'm sure you
think you can.

My Response: Before the Cotto - Pacquiao fight I went on
record saying it did not matter who won this fight because
Mayweather beats both of them regardless. After watching the
fight I still believe Mayweather beats Pacquiao, just not
as easy as I thought he would. And yes, Mayweather will use
his feet in the fight and stay away from Pacquiao. It's
how his fighting style, he is not a brawler and he would be a fool
to stand and trade with Pacquiao, any fighter would.

I have to be a hater because I thought he would lose the
fight with Cotto? You act as if I spend all my waking
hours hating Manny Pacquiao. I have said it before and I'll
say it again, I am not a Pacquaio hater I simply do
not believe he's invincible like so many do. Oh, and
by the way, I would not recommend disrespecting copyright
laws.

all Manny Pacquiao fans. I said I have met many Pacquiao
fans that are not fans of boxing but simply fans of Manny
Pacquiao. You need to stop reading what you want to read
and read what is actually written. I have no excuses as to
why Cotto lost the fight. Manny Pacquiao was the better
fighter on that night, simpe as that.
