MARQUEZ WIN LOST IN
WEEKEND SHUFFLE OF RING ACTION... by George Elsasser
With a past weekend of hot Friday and Saturday ring action, that included
age 36 veteran middleweight Raul Marquez nipping a previously
undefeated Giovanni Lorenzo on the undercard of the Abraham
stoppage of Edison Miranda, my cluttered mind somehow lost the
details in the shuffle.
Somewhat understandable considering the marquee features captured the most
attention - undefeated Abraham handicapping Edison Miranda the opening three
stanzas before disabling the aggressive Colombian courtesy three knockdowns in
numero cuatro - then over HBO, it was young Andre Berto displaying superb
technical skills, coupled with mega punching power in stopping Miguel Angel
Rodriguez in seven candles for a share of the welter title.
ABRAHAM AMBUSH SURPRISES MIRANDA... by George Elsasser
Last noche’s Showtime Saturday special main event with
undefeated IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham facing WBA
#2 S/middleweight Edison Miranda at catch weights delivered the
goods for those big on surprises.
It’s history now that Abraham had won the first meeting while
battling through adversity that saw him severely wounded with
broken jaw that would result in surgery - increasing the drama
in this return, was the first battle saw Miranda debited for
numerous violations that hinted of hometown officiating.
ABRAHAM STOMPS MIRANDA; MARQUEZ DECISIONS LORENZO
With three well-timed
power punches, “King” Arthur Abraham blasted his was to a definitive
fourth-round TKO over nemesis Edison Miranda in a thrilling rematch Saturday on
SHOWTIME. In a terrific co-feature, an IBF middleweight eliminator,
veteran Raul Marquez won a close unanimous 12-round decision over Dominican
upstart Giovanni Lorenzo. All three judges scored the bout 114-113.
ARTHUR ABRAHAM KO'S MIRANDA
FASTER THAN PAVLIK!
IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (27-0, 22 KOs) impressively knocked out
Edison Miranda (30-3, 26 KOs) in round four of a hotly anticipated rematch on
Saturday night at the Hard Rock LIVE Arena in Hollywood, Florida. Early on,
Miranda outworked Abraham who mostly covered up. Abraham started to open up in
round three landing some clean shots. Abraham explosively dropped Miranda three
times in round four and the bout was stopped. Time was 1:13.
Anyone up for Abraham-Pavlik?

WELCOME TO
AMERICA, 'KING' ARTHUR... by Bill Stephens
King Abraham looked impressive and one has to be wondering
what Pavlik's thoughts are. Pavlik vs. Abraham would be
another great fight to look forward to in what is turning out
to be an exciting year for boxing.

ARTHUR STILL KING AS HE KO'S MIRANDA IN
REMATCH... by Frank Gonzalez Jr.
Congratulations to Arthur Abraham, who showed disciplined
boxing skills complimented by solid power in both hands. He and Kelly Pavlik are
arguably the best fighters in the Middleweight division and as such, should
fight each other. Now that Abraham has come and won here in the USA, fight fans
will be eager to see the best against the best. For the promoters, this is a
win-win situation.

That’s okay though, people will always remember him as the guy on my
