ATLANTIC CITY: - In this highly anticipated rematch
of his disputed majority decision loss, WBC
middleweight phenom, Argentine's own Sergio 'Maravilla'
Martinez delivered a powerful devastating 'sweeping left
hook' to put Paul 'The Punisher' Williams on the canvas at
1:10 of round two in the first defense of his title. Over
5,000 fans were in attendance at the 'Famed Majestic
Boardwalk Hall,' HBO televised the event this past
Saturday, November 20, 2010.
The soon to be 36 year-old Martinez
drove his record to [46-2-2, 25 KOs] and earned him his
second straight astonishing victory since the Kelly 'The
Ghost' Pavlik bout earlier in the year.
This victory by Martinez avenged his
earlier loss to Williams, a fight in which both fighters
went down in the first round. Afterwards, a source stated
that Lou DiBella had nothing but praise for Williams,
remarking, "Williams is a brilliant fighter, and you saw
that in the first round."
Meanwhile, are we seeing a meltdown of
a warrior that nobody wanted to face? Consider that this
is Williams' second loss and his record now reads [39-2-0,
27 KOs]. In this writer's opinion - Williams is 29 years
old and has wholly earned the respect of his fellow
fighters and will bounce back from this sorrowful loss and
learn from this! "For he is a student of the game," -
