ROACH'S PATRIOT GAMES GARNERS
SECRET VIDEOS OF BARRERA TRAINING!
"These Tapes Have Helped Us Develop a New Weapon
That Will Counter Anything Barrera Throws at
Manny!"
"Let's go to the video tape!" is no longer a saying used
exclusively by television sportscasters and a certain NFL coach. It's
also getting A LOT of use from world-famous Freddie Roach,
trainer of boxing's No. 1 pound for pound most exciting fighter
MANNY PACQUIAO.
Pacquiao is training for his 12-round super featherweight rumble against
three-division world champion and personal nemesis Marco Antonio
Barrera in the main event of "Will to Win!"
-- the pay-per-view extravaganza.
"We have had a mole inside the Barrera camp for the past month,
secretly video taping Barrera's workouts. We call the mission Patriot
Games," confessed Roach, a native of Dedham, Mass., now living in Los Angeles.
"Barrera has been looking phenomenal, the best he has looked in years. After
seeing what his game plan would be we developed a new weapon for Manny to
counter anything Barrera throws at Manny. It's called
'The
Marco Bolo.' It's
the perfect complement to Manny's vaunted left hook and the infamous 'Manila
Ice.'
Manny
is still a work in progress, continuously evolving into the most
ferocious fighting machine in the sport today. We have yet to see the
best of Manny Pacquiao, and that's saying a lot since he's already the most
exciting fighter in the world. Manny is prepared for the battle of his
life."
Pacquiao is scheduled to break camp and head to Roach's Wild
Card Gym in Hollywood, Calif. on Saturday, September 22. He will be
hosting a media workout on Thursday, September 27.
Dubbed "Republica Enemy No. 1," Pacquiao has
blitzed through the best fighters Mexico
had to offer since 2003, including Erik Morales (KO 3, TKO 10), Barrera (TKO
11), Oscar Larios (W 12), Emanuel Lucero (TKO 3), Hector Velazquez (TKO 6) and
Jorge Solis (KO 8). The only “blemish” was a controversial draw
against Juan Manuel Marquez in 2004, where Pacquiao sent Marquez to the canvas
three times in the first round.
