Hall of Fame flies flags at half staff for trainer Angelo Dundee...

The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced its flags will fly at half-staff in memory of trainer Angelo Dundee. He passed away yesterday in Tampa, FL. He was 90.

"The sport of boxing had no greater ambassador than Angelo Dundee. No matter where he went, he was always promoting the sport he lived and loved his entire life," said Hall of Fame Executive Director Edward Brophy.  "Everyone at the Hall of Fame joins the boxing community in mourning the loss of one of the greats."

Mayweather vs Cotto confirmed for May 5th at the MGM Grand...
During a hearing to obtain his boxing license in the state of Nevada, WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr., (42-0, 26 KOs), announced his next opponent, WBA junior middleweight king Miguel Cotto, (37-2, 30 KOs) to the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Celebrity Arbitration Group for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao... by Martin Wade

This is an election year, and to some of us the survival of mankind is in the balance and never mind if the "some" is crazy and never really cared until we elected a brotha. The bottom line is there's more important things out there than what we Boxing Freaks argue about; like the Super Bowl or whether Blue Ivy is signed to a Record Label yet. With Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather seemingly moving on to (in my opinion) much more interesting bouts, I am using this time to call for some degree of decorum and democratic process. Even after Tim Bradley and Canelo Alvarez are dispatched this spring we must have a better way of debating the bout that Max Kellerman (in one of his not so enlightened moments) called the biggest fight since Ali vs. Frazier I. We have to get in touch with our inner deal maker and realize that… there is no "inner deal maker." For this fight to get made many of you internet managers, spokesmen and members of the not so tangible "Money Team" have to fall back and admit that this is too big for us.

Andre Berto hurt, fight with Victor Ortiz dead! ... by Pedro Fernandez/RT
Reports that Andre Berto (28-1, 22 KOs) was seriously injured sparring yesterday in Southern California were confirmed late Monday evening. The injury is said to be a "torn" or "ruptured" left bicep.
Hagler trainer Goody Petronelli dies... by Frank Dell'Appa

Brockton boxing trainer Guerino "Goody" Petronelli, who worked with middleweight champion Marvelous Marvin Hagler, died Sunday in Bourne, apparently of natural causes. He was 88.

Cory Spinks, B.J. Flores Win in Springfield, Missouri...

Five-time world champion Cory Spinks won a unanimous decision over Sechew Powell on Saturday at the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, Mo., in an elimination bout to determine the IBF junior middleweight No. 1 ranking, and hometown cruiserweight B.J. Flores moved closer to a world title match by stopping Colombian veteran Hugo Pineda.

Spinks (39-6, 11 KOs), a former undisputed welterweight champion and subsequent two-time IBF junior middleweight champion, had been thought by some to be near the end of his career after losing the IBF 154-pound crown to Cornelius "K9" Bundrage in 2010.

Provodnikov stops Torres in six; Kim-Amidu steal the show... by George Elsasser

The Ruslin Provodnikov-David Torres main event mismatch saw the favored Russian tossing a shutout entering stanza six when it was stopped at 2:53 mark with Torres down for second time in the round.

The proverbial handwriting on the wall was evident during opening stanza uno, when late in the round Torres hit the deck courtesy of Provodnikov right hand/left hook combination.

Chris Algieri remains undefeated at sensational Star Boxing card on Long Island...

On Saturday night, January 28th at the Paramount in Huntington, Long Island, junior welterweight prospect Chris Algieri stayed undefeated at Star Boxing's ROCKIN' FIGHTS with an eight round decision over Atlanta's Curtis Smith in front of a sold out crowd of hometown fans.

Displaying excellent boxing skills throughout the fight with a piston like jab and crunching body shots, coupled with devastating overhand right hands, Algieri had the fans on their feet from the opening bell as he dominated the game Smith by scores of 80 x 72 (twice) and 78-74.

Hook to the Body... by Jose Sulaiman

I feel the need today of talking briefly about me. Every human being, as modest or powerful as he might be, has his natural reactions of happiness or sadness, of tranquility or depression. The problems of a dignitary are felt the same as those of lower levels of life. I have felt them all in boxing, feeling just the same nervousness of a six-round boxer or a champion when going into the ring. Raton Macias used to tell me of the feeling in his stomach when walking into the ring until the time that the bell rang, in fear of not responding to the fans.

The "King" returns for new blood...
With the New Year comes the return of Thompson Boxing Promotions "New Blood" as it re-emerges with the best prospects in the Inland Empire area including welterweight contender Artemio "King" Reyes who makes his way back to Ontario after a spectacular win on national television. The "King" along with a court of pugilists like Aron Martinez, Richard Contreras and Sindy Amador are ready to perform in 2012.

The exciting night will take place on Friday, February 24, at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario as Thompson Boxing returns with its first blockbuster fight card of the year.

Efrain Esquivias added to "NEW BLOOD" on Feb. 24 at Doubletree-Ontario

Southern California's Inland Empire's heated boxing beat just got a little hotter.  Undefeated Efrain Esquivias (15-0, 9 KOs) has been added to the power packed Thompson Boxing Promotions February 24 edition of "New Blood."

Esquivias, the reigning NABF super bantamweight champion, who hails out of Carson, California, faced off against and won a blood-induced battle last November against dangerous Mexican southpaw, Fernando Beltran Jr. (35-7-1) and became the newly crowned NABF Super Bantamweight champion.

In the same pugilist spirit, Esquivias will once again step into the ring and put his unblemished record on the line when he faces a yet to be determined opponent.

Tickets for "NEW BLOOD" are priced at $75, $45, and $30. They are available now and may be purchased by calling 714-935-0900.

How to make Mayweather vs Pacquiao in 2012: Operation Boycott... by Armando "Old School" Aguilera

While the top two pound for pound prize fighters in boxing are reluctant to give their loyal fans the fight they really want, it doesn't mean there aren't tough competitors out there who can give them a serious challenge. Though this doesn't mean you're going to get that either! The fight options that make the most financial sense for either Pacquiao or Mayweather aren't the the ones who will give them a run for their money. After all, at this stage it's all about low risk, high rewards or so it seems; perhaps, they can prove us wrong.

Rigondeaux KOs Ramos - Claims WBA Bantam Title...by George Elsasser

The Showtime Friday Night "New Generation" series pitted defending WBA Super Bantamweight champion Rico Ramos in with Cuban defector Guillermo Rigondeaux, in what on paper looked like a can't miss showdown.

So much for promises - to coin a yesteryear phrase, Ramos from the opening bell simply could never get off - worse yet, defending champ or not, he wore the look of an intimidated fighter from the get-go.

Opened with both going the counter punch mode - then late in the stanza Rigondeaux drops Ramos with a strong straight left hand.

NBC Sports "Fight Night" Debut a smashing hit... by George Elsasser...
The NBC Saturday fight night debut proved a smashing success as both the heavyweight main event with Bryant Jennings and Maurice Byarm battling for the Pennsylvania State heavy title, and Gabriel Rosado in with Jesus Soto Karass in a light middleweight barn burner stamped the credibility label.

Rosado, Karass opened the show in a style that quickly got the paying clientele and magic lantern fans attention - as both mixed good technique with readied willingness to exchange at close quarters.

Martin Wade's "Loaded Gloves:" The Mayweather/Pacquiao Edition: The tweets heard round the world...
In true schoolyard fashion starting last week (January 9th) Floyd Mayweather did the equivalent of telling WBO Welterweight Champion Manny Pacquiao to "meet me after school." Amazingly, the internet as well as mainstream sports talking heads like Steven A. Smith felt the "call out" was relevant enough to argue about. As in life, nobody wants to argue the root cause of an issue but the reactionary residue of said "damned" issue. Floyd Mayweather told many of us he NEVER does the calling out; once he hit the big time he considered it beneath him. Remember? And yet in some Las Vegas courthouse Mayweather Attorney Karen Winckler winked at the judge and informed him that Vegas would be getting a "windfall" on May 5th which prompted the judge to push back Mayweather's "bit" until June.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: Stumbling Blocks... by Armando "Old School" Aguilera

Mirrors and smoke is what Mayweather and Pacquiao are all about lately, as every media report you read about them is a posturing maneuver. Let's face it, you can't make a fight without actually negotiating all the terms first. There hasn't been any real sit downs by either camp to try and make this fight a reality. Do you think a fight of this magnitude gets made overnight, on Twitter nevertheless?

Boxing is a business like any other, and despite what the viewing public demands, this fight isn't priority yet.

Why build a temporary stadium when you have UNLV's Sam Boyd Stadium? ... by Armando "Old School" Aguilera
The Bobfather (Bob Arum) has once again mentioned how important it is to build a temporary stadium that can hold more than 40 thousand people in order to maximize the gate profits of the dream fight between Floyd "Money" Mayweather and Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao. While it makes sense, in order to secure the high guarantees each fighter wants, I'm still perplexed on why the fight date has to be moved to a later date? First, why even build a temporary stadium when you have UNLV's Sam Boyd's Football Stadium (seats over 40,000)  nearby? In addition, with today's technology, I doubt you need more than four months to complete such a project.

Take a look at this 30-story building which was built in China in just 15 days!

Hook to the body: The 70 years of Muhammad Ali... by Dr. Jose Sulaiman

I dedicate today's column to Muhammad Ali, the greatest boxer that my eyes have seen in and out of the ring, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, which will be celebrated in a grandiose ceremony and dinner next month at the MGM which is becoming the cathedral of boxing in the world today, just as Caesars Palace was last century.

I let my mind fly towards those great years of my youth, when I was still a resident in the province of Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, Mexico, when a young fighter, Cassius Clay, came out to the sport to win an Olympic light heavyweight gold medal in the Rome Olympic Games of 1960, the same medal that he threw into a river when he felt that far from recognition and applause of North American society, he had found discrimination and rejection.

Tavoris "Thunder" Cloud defends IBF title against Gabriel "Chico Guapo" Campillo February 18th...

IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris "Thunder" Cloud, (23-0, 19 KOs), will defend his title a fourth time this coming February 18th against former WBA light heavyweight champion Gabriel "Chico Guapo" Campillo (21 wins [8 KOs], 3 losses [1 KO], 1 draw), who hails from Madrid, Spain. The fight will take place at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Showtime will televise this bout which was originally scheduled to take place between Cloud and Zsolt Erdei, who claims to have suffered a training injury.

Khan gets his way: The WBA orders an immediate rematch between Khan and Peterson... by Michael Collins/ESB

Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-2, 18 KOs) is probably feeling pretty pleased right about now with the news today that the World Boxing Association has decided to order an immediate rematch between Khan and the current IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (30-1-1, 15 KOs).

Hitz Boxing's "Fight Night at the Horseshoe" Series Continues February 18...

The next installment of Hitz Boxing's wildly popular "Fight Night at the Horseshoe" series will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana, featuring heavyweight contender "Merciless" Mike Mollo (20-3-1, 12 KOs) of Oak Lawn, Illinois; NABA-US Champion Yakubu "Black Mamba" Amidu (20-2-1, 18 KOs) of Los Angeles via Ghana; the unveiling of newly signed Cleveland-based junior welterweight prospect Prenice "Greatness" Brewer (16-1-1, 6 KOs); and a host of local favorites and warriors who have earned their spots through previous strong performances.

While the main and co-main and many of the opponents are yet to be determined, also scheduled to appear are unbeaten heavyweight slugger Dave Latoria (9-0, 5 KOs); popular local super middleweight Mike "Hollywood" Jimenez (5-0, 3 KOs) who will face Bruce "The Rage" Rumbolz (22-23-2, 15 KOs) of Sterling, Illinois; Lafayette, Louisiana, lightweight Chris Singleton (3-0, 2 KOs); the second four-round professional bout of Chesterton, Indiana, heavyweight Philip Triantafillo (1-0, 1 KO); Chicago junior welterweight Genaro Mendez (3-1-1, 2 KOs) will face Omaha's debuting Eric Corona; and the debut of Omaha, Nebraska-based former amateur heavyweight star (and newest member of the Hitz Boxing stable) Brian Houston in a surprisingly stern first test for his first time out against Chicago's Felix Abner (3-2, 2 KOs).

"I've been doing shows here for quite some time," said promoter Bobby Hitz, "and I am honored to continue providing the boxing to this beautiful casino. To maintain quality standards at our shows, what we're going to do from now on is feature only fighters who want to fight. We're not going to focus on getting wins for local kids like some other promotions do. In fact, I don't care if you're from the same gym as another guy. If you fight at the Horseshoe, you have to be willing to be in tough, maybe even against another local kid. Let's call it a tournament of sorts to see who the best fighters in the area really are by fighting one another.

NBC Sports Network's Fight Night card loses heavyweight contender Eddie Chambers...
Heavyweight contender Eddie Chambers suffered displaced fractures of his left anterior ninth and tenth ribs in training and, therefore, has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled 10-round bout with Sergei Liakhovich on the inaugural NBC Sports Network's Fight Night card from the Asylum Arena in Philadelphia, PA on January 21st.
Promoters Main Events and Peltz Boxing have reached out for a replacement for Chambers and will make an announcement as soon as possible.

Sports Network announces broadcast talent for inaugural "Fight Night" show on January 21st...

The NBC Sports Network today announced that Hall-of-Fame boxing trainer Freddie Roach and cruiserweight contender B.J. Flores team up with NBC's veteran broadcaster Kenny Rice to provide commentary for the network's new NBC Sports Network Fight Night Series.

The first Fight Night broadcast will be on the new NBC Sports Network on Saturday, January 21st beginning at 9 p.m. ET when heavyweight contenders Eddie Chambers and Sergei Liakhovich face off live from Philadelphia's historic Asylum Arena.

Outrageous comment is one more reason Sulaiman should resign... by Kevin Iole

The overwhelming majority of the problems that plague the sport can be traced, in one way or another, to the sanctioning bodies. Directly or indirectly, boxing's crime families, also known as the world sanctioning bodies, are responsible for the proliferation of champions, the dizzying array of weight classes, one-sided championship fights, stripping belts, ludicrous ratings and much, much more.

Manny Pacquiao camp shuns May 5 date....

Manny Pacquiao's camp says there is no economic sense in setting up a bout with Floyd Mayweather on May 5 after the unbeaten American publicly challenged the Filipino champion via Twitter.

Pacquiao's financial adviser Michael Koncz told The Associated Press on Thursday that a 45,000-seat boxing arena being built in Las Vegas won't be finished before the end of May and staging the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight in a smaller venue is "foolish from an economic standpoint."

Manny Pacquiao is no punk... by Elisa Valverde
-- "Manny Pacquiao I'm calling you out. Let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see. My Jail Sentence was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up Punk." --

Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather stand to go down in boxing history along with champions like Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, even though they have never stared each other down in the ring. The mere mention of Manny Pacquiao's name causes a strange phenomena in what has always been a sport supported by "crazy" fans. I don't believe that there has ever been a boxer in the history that has carried a country on his shoulders the way Pacquiao has; i.e., in spite of accusations of steroid abuse, questionable wins against some of his opponents, etc., Filipinos never cease to support him. He is one of the few chosen ones.

Floyd Mayweather to Manny Pacquiao:
"Manny Pacquiao I'm calling you out. Let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see. My Jail Sentence was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up Punk."

Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s jail sentence postponed...

Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa has given Floyd Mayweather, Jr. until June 1st to serve his jail sentence, thus allowing him to fight on May 5 as scheduled against an opponent to be named. A last minute appeal by Mayweather Jr.'s legal team convinced the Las Vegas judge to allow Floyd to fulfill "prior commitments and contracts."

Consult:
Doc, was 2011 a good year for boxing?

Analysis: It was...for those who won disputed decisions and those who avoided going to jail.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's official: WBA regular heavyweight champ Alexander Povetkin, 23-0, defends the title February 25 at the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart against current WBO cruiser king Marco Huck, 34-1 with Sauerland Event as promoter... by Per-Ake Persson
Huck stepped forward during the press conference after Povetkin had defeated Cedric Boswell December 3 in Helsinki and challenged the champion but not many had expected the fight to happen so soon.
It's an interesting match-up with two aggressive hard punching fighters in the ring and also a clash between trainers with the American style of fighting that Povetkin's trainer Teddy Atlas represents against the European way that Huck's trainer Ulli Wegner stands for.
How Huck can handle the power and strength of a natural heavyweight will probably determine the outcome of the fight.

Association of Boxing Commissioners Discourages Practice of Open Scoring... by Tim Lueckenhoff, President of the Association of Boxing Commissioners

At a recent sanctioning organization's annual meeting, it was stated that open scoring would be used during championship boxing matches held, regardless of the location of the contest.

The purpose of this writing is to remind our ABC member commissions, that a committee headed by Jim Erickson (Mille Lacs) studied this issue for an entire year while gathering information from promoters, contestants, sanctioning organization and other interested parties. The committee members included Joe Mason (CO), Pat Pannella (MD) and Bernie Profato (OH). After the committee's presentation of the information gathered, open scoring was overwhelmingly rejected by the ABC membership.

WBC News: "Partial open scoring, a must for the future of boxing..."

The World Boxing Council has enjoyed great success with open scoring throughout the world.  The announcement of the judges' official scores after the end of the fourth and eighth rounds has been a great rule which has been used in many countries.

This topic will be one of the priorities to be discussed during the WBC Annual Convention, which will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada from December 11-17, as we believe that all of those countries or local boxing commissions that do not accept the use of this rule should thoroughly evaluate its great benefits, which have been proven since its implementation in 2006.

Announcing the score after the fourth and eighth rounds gives the fans in the arena, those watching on television, and most importantly the boxers themselves the opportunity to know how they stand in the fight in order to adjust their strategy and efforts.

Andre Ward: A different kind of Warrior... by Martin Wade

We are nearing Christmas and most of us are thinking about the people who are important to us; people we will embrace and hold dear in just a few short weeks. For those of us who watch the "hard game" we are exiting a fall and early winter where men who aren't necessarily pillars of likeability took center stage. An alleged cheater took an alleged (in his mind) beating at the hands of Miguel Cotto and Vic Darchinyan just ran into another matador able to shut down his "Bull." Floyd Mayweather continued to keep his name in the news by booking a venue and date without consulting anyone from Manny Pacquiao's camp just to keep us more irritated and confused as ever... thanks Floyd. Across the sports landscape Nndamukong Suh just shocked us with the worst kept secret in sports; that really large men who eat quarterbacks might be a bit unhinged. And we don't even want to go into the Penn State/Syracuse abuse investigations and what that means for our young.

Amir Khan on his loss to Peterson...
Watch it on youtube and then decide if the referee made the right calls or not... Click on the title to see the tape...

Amir Khan vs Lamont Peterson, the IBF won't order rematch!
Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan got some bad news today from the International Boxing Federation, who had decided not to order a rematch between Khan and newly crowned Lamont Peterson.
Khan and his management appealed his 12 round decision loss to the IBF, WBA and the Washington State Athletic Commission to try and get the results overturned or at the minimum to force Peterson to give Khan an immediate rematch. According to reliable sources, the IBF will not be ordering Peterson to fight Khan again.

Khan appeals scoring after loss to Peterson...
British boxer Amir Khan appealed the scoring in his split-decision loss to American Lamont Peterson in their light-welterweight title fight.
"We'll find out in the next five to seven days if the decision is overturned," Khan told Sky Sports News on Thursday. "If that's the case, I will give him a rematch to settle the score."
The 25-year-old Englishman lost his WBA and IBF titles in the defeat in Washington on Saturday after points were deducted points on two occasions for pushing.

Inquiring minds want to know...
Team Khan/Golden Boy Promotion Official Statement: "Firstly, we would like to congratulate Lamont Peterson on his performance against Amir Khan. Not only has he shown that he is a tremendous fighter inside the ring, but also a great man out of the ring.
"Following the decision in the fight, Team Khan and Golden Boy Promotions intends to make inquiries with the District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission, the IBF and the WBA regarding the performance of referee Joseph Cooper and will also be seeking clarification regarding certain ambiguities with respect to the scores of the fight.
"We look forward to an immediate rematch with Lamont as confirmed by Lamont and his manager/trainer Barry Hunter."

Who is referee Joe Cooper?
Joe Cooper is a referee from Virginia. He was the least experienced of the group officiating the Khan-Peterson fight.  He hadn't refereed a world title fight since 2003, when DeMarcus Corley beat Randall Bailey at the DC Armory.

Peterson upsets Kahn; Mitchell halts Ibragimov... by George Elsasser

The HBO Saturday night special delivered an action affair that saw underdog Lamont Peterson upset defending WBA/IBF Jr. welter champion Amir Khan via 12 round split decision win.

Opens with Khan bringing it to a surprised Peterson that sees the local favorite on the defense - late in the stanza, with Peterson in retreat, he's down from a flurry of punches but unhurt. Then, over the first half, it becomes a tough one to score, with Peterson the aggressor and Khan boxing nicely at times to keep the challenger at bay.

Cotto's Redemption Song... by Maria Conto

A lot of folks complained of the hypocrisy.  How could Cotto, (let alone Pacquiao), give another payday to a criminal like Margarito?  A man who disrespected the sport of boxing by loading his gloves with a plaster-like substance --  later identified to be a combination of calcium (a component of bone)  and sulfur (a component associated with, hmm... Satan?).   If not for Nazim Richardson, Margarito would have brought a weapon into the ring against Shane Mosley.  The intent?  To win, of course, but to win at the cost of doing damage, irrevocable damage, to one's opponent.  That's not boxing.  That's a street fight.

A BRC's Head to Head: Writer Angel Rodriguez meets writer Martin Wade

Carnage in New York... by Angel Rodriguez
If looks could kill, then Madison Square Garden will be a defacto Mexican's firing squad tonight when Antonio Margarito faces Miguel Cotto and the approximately 40,000 Puerto Rican eyeballs shooting bullets at the Mexicans soul.  Does Cotto have enough in the tank to be the physical manifestation of the spiritual menace directed toward the now droopy-eyed villain at the same arena where Billy Collins Jr. was broken by Luis Resto and his non-padded boxing gloves nearly 30 years ago?  Or will Antonio Margarito confirm that the better man probably won three years ago fair and square by reprising his 2008 victory in Cotto's home arena?

Miguel Cotto, a Unique Revenge... by Martin Wade

What if Billy Collins had taken a knee after 5 rounds, recovered and been able to face a Luis Resto who was not wearing unpadded gloves? All those years ago another Bob Arum star in the making was victimized by a Puerto Rican boxer who did not have the talent or cache of Miguel Cotto. All those years ago in New York's fame Madison Square Garden Resto shamed himself and precipitated a downward spiral that led to Collin's untimely death. Billy Collins was a tough Tennessee based fighter who knew the punches "felt" different but had too much heart to stop trying. UFC fighters tap out every other Saturday, but boxers are bound (and burdened) with an expectation that borders on the morbid.

Is Oscar De La Hoya Boxing's Charlie Sheen?... By Martin Wade

Check the date... No, it isn't Groundhog Day, it's another sex scandal involving Oscar De La Hoya that registers high even by TMZ standards. His recent disclosure of serious substance and alcohol abuse following the Mayweather-Ortiz debacle was merely the tip of the iceberg; as with all celebrity debauchery there's always "more." Boxing in the words of many is a vocation of desperation; there are few men of Ivy League potential and "options" so we, lovers of the noble art, have no naive notions about "how" fighters party when the gloves are cut off. Boxing is notable for hard men, many of them louts and hard to be around - especially at the height of their notoriety and wealth - and yet none of them are fortunate. Nobody in Boxing has been more "fortunate" than Oscar De La Hoya, so maybe the degree of his "issues" are subjective in a way, when many fighters beg and scrape for a payday he's  never had to give it any real thought.

Kirkland, Angulo and Boxing's "99%"... by Martin Wade

Make no mistake, we are under occupation and it isn't going to end anytime in the near future. Projections for this recession are dimly predicting hard times lasting into the year 2015, about the same time we'll finally see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. Every city in the nation as well as in Europe is crawling with protestors and the growing reality that the "game" (prosperity) is and always has been rigged. Whether you think it is because of Wall Street, the Rothschild Federal Reserve dynasty or the Real Estate bubble, average people are in crisis and "above average" people have every intent (and incentive) for keeping us there. As consumers of a sport that may never be important enough for Federal intervention we are more vulnerable than we ever were, and there seems no recourse short of occupying Las Vegas.
