WBC World Light Flyweight Champion Brian Viloria (19-0, 12 KO's) battled his way to a tougher than expected unanimous decision over Jose Antonio Aguirre (33-5-1, 20 KO's).

Aguirre seemed to be frustrating Viloria early in the bout and managed to secure a few of the early rounds; however, after about the mid-way point of the fight Viloria seemed to be solving the mystery and went on to land the bigger shots in the later rounds.

Viloria solidified the victory by landing hard and effective power shots in the last few rounds, bloodying the challenger.

Scores were 116-112, 116-112 and 117-111 for Brian 'The Hawaiian Punch' Viloria.
