Don King’s Global Glory is set to take over Chicago’s United Center on Saturday, August 13th with a blockbuster card. At stake will be four World Championship titles, with seven current or former World Champions in action. Included is former undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World Hasim “The Rock” Rahman (40-5-1, 33 KO’s), who will participate in the evening’s main event against highly regarded contender Monte “Two Gunz” Barrett (31-3, 17 KO’s) for the WBC Interim Heavyweight Championship and the immediate right to challenge current WBC title holder Vitali Klitschko in September. Rahman is looking to recapture what he feels is rightfully his, the Heavyweight Championship, while Barrett is looking to claim his first World Championship. Along with the main event, Showtime PPV will carry three exciting undercard attractions.

Most notably, the return of former WBC and WBA Welterweight Champion Ricardo “El Matador” Mayorga (27-5-1, 23 KO’s) fighting for the vacant WBC Junior Middleweight title against former IBF Welterweight Champion, Italy’s own, Michele Piccirillo (44-2, 28 KO’s). Mayorga is known for his exciting offensive style, while Piccirillo is an experienced veteran who owns a victory over Cory Spinks, the man who beat Mayorga for his titles. This should prove to be an interesting fight pitting a brawler in Mayorga against a boxer in Piccirillo. The winner of this bout will be set to defend their title for the first time against the winner of next week’s “Ferocious” Fernando Vargas and Javier Castillejo bout.

Also in action will be up and coming WBA Welterweight Champion Luis Collazo (25-1, 11 KO’s) defending his title against Mexican ring legend Miguel Angel Gonzalez (49-4-1, 39 KO’s). Gonzalez, who reigned as WBC Lightweight Champion for nearly three years, has a resumé filled with some all-time greats including a draw against Julio Cesar Chavez and bouts with Oscar de la Hoya and Kostya Tszyu.

The fourth TV bout includes Chicago’s own and former WBC Heavyweight Champion Oliver “The Atomic Bull” McCall (44-8, 31KO’s) in a ten round special attraction against Poland’s Przemyslaw Saleta (42-6, 21KO’s). McCall can be remembered for his KO victories over two of the greatest heavyweights of all-time, Larry Holmes and Lennox Lewis.

In an exciting off-TV attraction, one of my favorite rising stars, the hard punching WBA Junior Middleweight Champion Alejandro “Terra” Garcia (24-1, 24KO’s) defends his title against Italian Junior Middleweight Champion and former WBA International Welterweight Champion Lucca Messi (28-5-1, 11 KO’s).

With a number of other bouts scheduled to take place and multiple world titles at stake, it should prove to be a very exciting night of boxing at the United Center in Chicago.
