VITALI KLITSCHKO BECOMES
SAM PETER'S WORST NIGHTMARE... by Elisa Harrison
On the same night Showtime's spotlight
glowed on a now former champion short on pride and
determination, another champion who fought fair and square to
re-establish himself at the top of his division's heap and
a third champion, Chad Dawson, who proved talk is cheap and
ultimately the cream rises to the top.
Congratulations are in order for Vitali
Klitschko and Chad Dawson, who delivered two extremely exciting
fights, without controversy or upheaval. Showtime deserves credit
for bringing boxing fans the fights they want to see the way it
should be, sans the exorbitant price tag.
THE
FUTURE IS HERE ... by Bill Stephens
Live from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas the future of
the sport of Boxing put an end to the trash talk from Antonio
Tarver.
Dawson's remarks to the trash talk in press conferences came
true, as he said he would let his fists do the talking in the
ring. He did exactly that on Showtime Championship Boxing
tonight, taking the title from the 39-year old Antonio
Tarver.
The speed and precision from Dawson was an awesome display of
skill and power unleashed on the now former champion, who
stood toe to toe with Dawson, taking a lot of abuse from
Dawson's gloves, never giving up and fighting until the end.
Chad Dawson surrendered his WBC belt to become the New IBF
Light Heavyweight Championship, a move that is sure to put
the undefeated Champion in line for the bigger paydays.

PETER PRESS CONFERENCE: AN EXCLUSIVE PHOTO GALLERY...
By
Yuriy "Joy" Nesterenko
In one of the most significant
heavyweight championship fights in years, Samuel Peter and
Vitali Klitschko will battle for the WBC Heavyweight Title
Saturday on SHOWTIME. Both fighters stake claim to the belt,
Peter won it with a victory over Jameel McCline in September
of 2007 and defended it against Oleg Maskaev earlier this
year, while Klitschko was stripped of the belt in 2005 after
withdrawing from a fight due to injury. On Monday, tensions
rose as the controversy over the belt continued when Peter
ripped the belt out of Klitschko's hands and stormed off
the stage.
WBC NAMES OFFICIALS FOR
PETER - KLITSCHKO...
World Boxing Council president Jose Sulaiman will attend the
heavyweight world championship fight between champion Samuel Peter of
Nigeria and former champion Vitali Klitschko of Ukraine on October 11 in
Germany.
The WBC, to ensure absolute neutrality, has appointed several WBC
officers to supervise this great boxing match. The general supervisor
will be Charlie Giles, the Chairman of the British Boxing Board of
Control, who will assisted by Bob Logist, the president of the European
Boxing Union. Special supervisors will be Houcine Houichi, the president
of the African Boxing Union, and Edmund Lipinski, the president of the
CIS & Slovenian Boxing Bureau (Russia).
The referee will be Massimo Barroveccio of Italy, and the judges will be
John Keane of Great Britain, Anek Hongtongkam of Thailand, and Ken Morita
of Japan.
BREAKING DOWN
DAWSON vs TARVER... by Jim Amato
This should be a
no brainer. I mean just look at their records. Antonio
Tarver has met the best that the light heavyweight
division has had to offer. He beat most of them too. He
lost to then highly rated Eric Harding but knocked him out
in a rematch. He defeated Reggie Johnson and Montell
Griffin. He went 2-1 with Roy Jones Jr. and was the first
man to ever stop Roy. He split a pair of decisions with
rugged Glen Johnson. He lost to future Hall Of Fame
inductee Bernard Hopkins but came back to outclass Clinton
Woods. Now what has young Chad Dawson accomplished? Well
he beat a past his prime Harding. He was impressive in
defeating the talented Tomasz Adamek but struggled against
Glen Johnson. Dawson won a hotly disputed verdict over
Glen.

SOLIS FACES WELLIVER OCTOBER 11TH IN BERLIN UNDERNEATH PETER - KLITSCHKO...
by Per-Ake Persson
Cuban heavy
Odlanier Solis face American Chauncey Welliver for the
vacant WBC International title October 11 in Berlin in a
supporting bout to Klitschko vs Peter. The show is
interestingly enough supervised by the BDB and not the GBO,
who previously handled K 2´s shows in Germany. Also on for
the bill is heavyweight giant Alexander Ustinov, signed to
K 2 East.
KLITSCHKO: " I WILL TAKE MY TITLE BACK"
... by Francisco Guzman
Vitali
Klitschko, who ends a four-year layoff, has selected to
walk into a title fight for the WBC heavyweight title
because he was crowned 'Champion Emeritus' after
retiring. A press conference was held at New York City's Gallagher's
Steak House on Wednesday,
to officially announce the long awaited world
heavyweight title fight between the two combatants.
THE GREAT WAR OF OCTOBER 11TH.... by Bill Stephens
History
will be made if Vitali Klitschko defeats the current
Heavyweight Champion Samuel Peter. A victory for Vitali
will be the first time two brothers hold the heavyweight
Championship at the same time. Both boxers mixed strong
words and predictions at the media press conference. Dino
Duva of Duva boxing is calling for a great war.
FOUR YEARS IS TOO LONG... PETER
WINS IN 5... by Ricky Ray Taylor
VITALI: "Sometimes a long break is good
for the body. But I will never lose my Boxing
skills. Of course my mother and my wife always
worry about me but they also know that I have to do my
job - the belt is much more important. My main
motivation in coming back is to be a World Champ with my
brother. The two of us have a dream to each be
World Champions. I also miss my World Title.
So, now we have to make this dream come true. I
will take my Title back. I did not "lose" my World
Title..."

KLITSCHKO RETURNS TO CHALLENGE SAM PETER FOR HEAVYWEIGHT WORLD TITLE ON OCTOBER
11 BLOCKBUSTER
On a night that will electrify the boxing world, active World Boxing Council
(WBC) Heavyweight Champion Sam Peter (30-1, 23 KOs) will defend his title
against WBC Champion Emeritus Vitali Klitschko (35-2, 34 KOs), making his
dramatic return to the ring after a four-year absence, on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP
BOXING, Saturday, October 11.
Immediately following the heavyweight world title fight, which begins at 9 p.m.
ET/PT on tape delay, two light heavyweight champions will meet, live on
SHOWTIME, when Antonio "Magic Man" Tarver and "Bad" Chad Dawson square off in a
long-awaited grudge match.
TARVER vs. DAWSON SET FOR OCTOBER 11...
Building upon its tradition of delivering the most evenly matched and
significant fights in boxing, SHOWTIME Senior Vice President and General
Manager, Sports and Event Programming Ken Hershman officially announced today
the fight that boxing pundits and fans have been waiting for. World champion
Antonio 'Magic Man' Tarver (27-4, 19 KOs) and undefeated 'Bad' Chad Dawson
(26-0, 17 KOs) will face off in a battle of light heavyweight kingpins on
Saturday, Oct. 11 live on Showtime Championship Boxing at 9 p.m. ET/PT (delayed
on the West Coast).
CHAD DAWSON RELINQUISHES WORLD BOXING COUNCIL TITLE RATHER THAN FIGHT ADRIAN
DIACONU
Chad Dawson contacted the WBC to inform that he will not fight Adrian Diaconu
for the undisputed light heavyweight championship and therefore is
relinquishing the title, even though representatives of both fighters had
participated in a purse offer that was won by the Romanian promoter Gangkor
Promotions.
Apparently the reason that Dawson did not comply with the WBC Rules is
because of a commitment that he has with a television network, which it seems
is interfering with the rights and infrastructure of the WBC.
