AMIR KHAN DEFEATS MARIO KINDELAN 19-13

(L) Kindelan and Khan

Tonight at Bolton's Reebok Stadium, just a mere stone's throw away from Amir Khan's home, the talented Olympic silver medalist gained revenge a third time lucky with a close victory over the amazing two time Olympic champion Mario Kindelan from Cuba.

The 18 year old Bolton amateur started fast and took a good early lead but allowed the Cuban back into the fight in the second and third rounds, yet in the fourth Khan demonstrated fast hands and movement in the final minute to pull away with some dazzling flurries to close the show.

19 - 13 was a little over zealous from the judges in my opinion but the youngster nonetheless did deserve a close verdict on merit.

This fight was the last time either man will ever perform in an amateur vest. Kindelan bows out with grace following a great career soaking up World, Olympic and Pan American Games titles scaling the last 15 years during which he fought a who's who of internationally recognized greats including victory over one Felix Trinidad,  where as Khan finally made it public knowledge that he is to turn professional tomorrow with Frank Warren and Sports Network, making his debut on the Danny Williams v Matt Skelton  heavyweight card in London later this year.
