A veteran of "The Contender" boxing series, Clark has been on a winning streak
since his 2007 fight with top ten prospect, Mike Alvarado, was stopped due to
a hand injury. In his most recent bout, Clark won a
unanimous decision against Jason Pires in May. "Cold
Blood" came to Judah's attention when he approached Judah's promoters and
asked for the bout.
"We contacted representatives of just about everyone among the top 20 junior
welterweights in the US and abroad and offered them a fight with Zab" Promoter
Kathy Duva of Main Events said. "They all turned us down.
Michael Clark, on the other hand, called up and asked for the fight.
You've got to admire and reward that kind of passion and confidence.
Michael Clark is certain that he can beat Zab Judah and he wants to
come to Newark and prove it."
"I have all the respect in the world for Michael Clark because he is willing
to come to the Prudential Center to face me," Judah, whose "Super Judah
Promotions" is also co-promoter of the bout, said. "The
top junior welterweights want no part of Zab Judah. We
had a great night in Newark this summer and expect to give the fans an even
greater night in October. Zab Judah is all the way back!"
Over 4,000 motivated fans turned out at "The Rock" for Judah's return to the
ring in July when Judah scored a spectacular knock out over a very game Jose
Armando Santa Cruz. The show was an all-around success, as
fans were entertained from top to bottom with a series of explosive undercard
bouts leading up to the main event.
"On Oct. 2nd at Prudential Center Clark will be Zab's second victim on the way
to the top of the junior welterweight division," Bill Halkias of Super Judah
Promotions, said. "Zab's TKO victory against Santa Cruz
proves he hasn't lost a step. He has developed into a stronger, faster and
smarter fighter. Michael Clark will learn first-hand what it's like to fight a
great fighter who has become an even greater fighter," he added.
"Zab will continue to make highlight reels with his crushing power and
the fastest hands in boxing. He is determined to be the
best and anyone in his way will learn that the hard way."
An exciting slate of undercard bouts is also being planned for October 2nd.
An announcement about those fights will be made shortly.
The fight, promoted by Main Events and Super Judah Promotions, will take place
on Saturday, October 2nd at Prudential Center, Newark, NJ.
