LIVE UNDERDOGS By Jeff Mayweather |

Judah and Forrest are the prohibitive favorites but the other two guys stepping in the ring on that night can easily emerge victorious and it wouldn't be a great shock to any true boxing fan if either one did.
Ricardo Mayorga has already defeated Vernon Forrest and did so in devastating fashion. So, of course he is only one well placed punch on the chin away from a repeat performance. I give Mayorga a very good chance of pulling off the upset. If Vernon can actually stick to a fight plan long enough without getting caught, then he will once again reign as the Welterweight King.
I don't like the fact that Forrest hasn't fought some type of confidence builder in between fighting Mayorga again. Vernon's demise could come just as Shane Mosley's did against him. Shane felt as though he had something to prove and went right back into a immediate rematch; only to find himself fighting a cautious, non-entertaining fight, because once he tasted Forrest power again, Shane subconsciously went into survival mode and appeared to no longer want to win but just to obtain a moral victory by finishing on his feet and not being counted out.
The same can very well happen to Forrest once he is hit clean by Mayorga; he too could go into survival mode. Mayorga has nothing to lose. Although he is the reigning Champion, many feel as though his victory over Forrest wasn't so much what he did as opposed to what Vernon didn't do. I pick Forrest to win but I wouldn't dare bet against Mayorga.
In the second fight we have excellent offensive fighters -and note I said offensive- meaning that both fighters' defense is suspect, which could spell early knockout either way.
Judah is one of the fastest and most reckless fighters in the division and also carries a pretty decent punch; his setback is that his reckless approach toward his opponents sometimes ends up with him finding himself on the seat of his pants. His chin is suspect even though he has gotten up to win in all but one of his fights; with the tension that surrounds this fight one mistake could cost Judah. He hasn't fought since his bout against Omar Weiss, almost a year ago, and this is a very tough fight to be in after such a long layoff.
Corley too is a great offensive fighter with a decent punch; his chin may not be as big a question mark as Judah's but Zab certainly has the better hand speed, which means that he should be able to get to Corley first.
I have only seen Corley in three fights and in those he showed he too could be hurt. DeMarcus is coming off a lackluster performance against Randall Bailey, and although he was dominant in that bout I think that he can fight much better than he gave against Bailey. Factor in the genuine dislike between both fighters, and it becomes apparent that Corley will need to take his game to another level or find a nice spot on Judah's suspect chin to emerge victorious.

On Saturday night June 12th at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas we will have two very interesting match-ups. First, the rematch between Vernon "The Viper" Forrest and Ricardo "El Matador" Mayorga; in the Co-Main event we have "Super" Zab Judah vs DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley.
