HAYE UNIFIES VIA TKO2 OVER
MACCARINELLI... by George Elsasser
Having never seen either champion in action I quickly
searched for the intangibles - on paper all appeared equal in size at 6-3 in
height and in matching ages 27. The rap sheet gave no clue with Haye entering at
20-1 with 19 stoppages and Maccarinelli sporting a sparkler as well at 28-1, 21
by knockout.
DAVID HAYE LANDS THE HAYEMAKER; STOPS MACCARINELLI IN SECOND
South London native David Haye disposed of Welshman Enzo Maccarinelli in less
than two rounds to unify the cruiserweight division. Haye entered London’s O2
Arena on Saturday night with the WBA and WBC belts and collected Maccarinelli’s
WBO strap after a brilliant show of speed and power.
ENZO MACCARINELLI & DAVID HAYE CONFERENCE CALL QUOTES...
In perhaps the most significant cruiserweight unification
title bout in years, world champions Enzo Maccarinelli (World Boxing
Organization) and David Haye (World Boxing Council/World Boxing Association)
will collide this Saturday, March 8, live on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING at 9
p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast).
'THE HAYEMAKER' DISCUSSES
MACCARINELLI FIGHT!
A fight with Maccarinelli is the only remaining
bout at cruiserweight that appeals to me. Take me out of the equation and
Maccarinelli is the next best fighter in the division. He hasn't beaten many, if
any, world-class contenders and has been heavily protected from day one, but you
can't argue with the way he has beaten who has been put in front of him.
