The past HBO Saturday "After Dark" double dip left little for the imagination - you like down and dirty, and free of the ol’ Marquis Queensberry rules, yours was the welterweight opener with space cadet Joshua Clottey in with Colombian straight man Rich Gutierrez - toss in Dr. (strangeglove man in charge) Lou Moret  and we have all bases covered.

 



VIVIAN HARRIS STOPS STEVIE JOHNSTON IN 7TH ROUND OF HBO B.A.D. MAIN EVENT
Harris dropped Johnston at 55 seconds of round one with a powerful right cross and again at 2:40 of the opening round but was unable to finish off the valiant Johnston.  Johnston was dropped by again by a  right hand and was cut over his left eye at 1:30 of the fourth round before showing tremendous heart and courage and winning the round with over hand rights and combinations of punches.

There was a time when Vivian Harris was considered by many to be one of the sport’s rising young forces. Harris was the WBA Jr. Welterweight Champion of the world, he had Emmanuel Steward in his corner, and his list of possible future opponents included Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, and Floyd Mayweather. Several people were expecting big things from Harris but everything fell apart on June 25th of last year as he was shockingly and convincingly knocked out by underdog Carlos Maussa. The loss set Harris back tremendously and he has only fought once since.
 


 

VETERAN TRAINER HENRY HILL WILL WORK STEVIE JOHNSTON'S CORNER ON JULY 29TH
Veteran trainer Henry Hill will work the corner of Stevie “Little But Bad” Johnston (38-3-1, 17 KOs) on July 29 against  “Vicious” Vivian Harris in the 10-round main event on HBO’s Boxing After Dark at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, California.
Hill replaced Buddy McGirt four months ago as Johnston’s head trainer

World-class welterweights and junior welterweights do battle when HBO Boxing After  Dark: Vivian Harris vs Stevie Johnston and Joshua Clottey vs Richard Gutierrez is seen Saturday, July 29 at 10:30 p.m. (live ET/tape-delayed PT) from Chumash Casino & Resort in Santa Ynez, Cal., exclusively on HBO. The HBO BOXING AFTER DARK team of Fran Charles, Max Kellerman and Lennox Lewis will be ringside for the event, which will be presented in Spanish language on HBO Latino.

 


 

NONITO 'THE FILIPINO FLASH' DONAIRE TO DEFEND AGAINST JOVANNY SOTO JULY 29 ON HBO'S BAD

Donaire, (14-1, 8 KOs), from General Santos City in The Philippines, is riding a five-year, 13-bout winning streak, with his most impressive wins coming in his last two bouts, a unanimous decision victory over former IBO champion Ilidio Julio, (33-6-1, 29 KOs), and an exciting split-decision win over Kahren  Harutyuyan, (13-2-3), for the vacant NABF title. 
RESULT: Donaire scored a 2nd round TKO versus Jose Luis Cardenas. Official time 1:48, referee was Raul Caiz.
