This fight turned out to be a mismatch that saw Guzman, as the Matador, and
Soto, as the Bull—without horns. Soto is a good fighter and he is going to
rebound after this loss. He can learn a lot watching the tape and seeing how he
could’ve done better had he employed the feint here and there to throw Guzman
off his rhythm and maybe got a lucky shot in. But for now, it is Guzman’s time
to shine.
GUZMAN-SOTO: LOOKING FORWARD TO SATURDAY NIGHT!...
by Ricky Ray Taylor
It was one of the more respectful press conferences of the
year - at least as it compared to the ones I've witnessed up here lately.
No Don King running around in an elf suit, no arrogant warriors stone facing
their opponents with stare down tactics and not so much as a bikini clad
stripper passing out water bottles. There were only four fighters and a
couple of trainers and managers joined by the regular multitude of photographers
and fans. Each fighter seemed to already be in the zone as there was a
real "changing of the guard" ambience filling the room surrounding the
Soto-Guzman match up.

JOAN GUZMAN RETURNS TO THE RING TO DEFEND HIS WBO 130
POUND BELT NOV. 17 ON HBO 'BOXING AFTER DARK'
“I can’t wait to get back
in the ring and throw some punches,” said Guzman, who has
a new trainer in his corner in Floyd Mayweather, Sr. “I
am ready to get in there and show off my skills.”
