Last night in Madison Square Garden, the place where Miguel Cotto (33-1-27 KOs) calls his home away from home took on highly rated but over matched Michael Jennings (34-2-16 KOs). Jennings could not keep Cotto away as he put pressure from the opening bell. As the fight went on Cotto got closer and closer. Until the 4th round when Jennings went down twice from blows to his body. Cotto continued to punish Jennings dropping him again on the 5th round. As he returned to his feet the referee had enough, waving it off at 2:36 of the 5th round. Cotto wins the vacant WBO welterweight title with this win.

In co-feature bout undefeated Irish John Duddy (26-0-17 KOs) took on Matt Vanda. A fight that lacked much action Vanda (39-9-22 KOs) decided to step it up on the 10th and final round. Hitting Duddy right hands and left hooks seeming to hurt him. It was a little too late. Duddy wins unanimous 99-91, 99-1, 97-93.

Matt Korobov (4-0-4 KOs) knocks out Cory Jones (4-5-1 KOs) cold with a chopping right hand at the very end of the bout, with one second remaining of the 4th round.

Pawel Wolak (23-1-16 KOs) destroyed Norberto Bravo (27-17-3-15 KOs), from the Contender show. Ref halted the action at 1:33 of the first.

In the upset of the evening, unbeaten Maureen Shea (13-1, 7 KOs) was TKO'd by Kina Malpartida (9-3, 2 KOs). Maureen started out strong knocking Maplartida down in the first round. Kina slowly rallied back event hurting Shea stopping her in the tenth and final round.
