RODRIGUEZ HALTS HERNANDEZ; LOPEZ BEATS MORENO

TheESPN2, FNF twin bill offering, went pretty much as expected with grooming house favorite Delvin Rodriguez making short work of limited in skills Luis Hernandez in the main event and Cesar Lopez breezing over Alejandro Moreno in the co-feature.

Lopez- Moreno opened the show with Lopez scoring a hat trick over a slow, ready for early retirement Moreno who dropped to 12-19-3 with 10 KO’s - it was the smaller in size Lopez from start to finish, as he peppered Moreno over eight rounds of fistic abuse.

The younger at 23, Lopez, was quick and accurate, with a busy offense as he scored body to head over a slow reacting, and tired looking age 28 veteran, that arrived sporting an abysmal rap sheet of 12-18-3, 10 KO’s.

Official tabs went Lopez 80-72, 79-73, 79-73 - my unofficial had it Lopez 80-72 in points and 8-0 under round by round method.

Post Scripts: Cesar Lopez (19-3, 4 KO‘s) ~ Good news the kid got some TV exposure -  bad news, at last peek he’s listed number 15 under both WBA, WBO bodies. Lack of punching power a likely stumbling block to bigger and better things.
Alejandro Moreno (12-19-3, 10 KO’s) ~ Stats pretty much say it all - took a non-stop hammering - entered batting 0-2 against Lopez and settled for oh - 3. Clearly in need of a career change before the damage sets in.
………………………………..........................................................................
Main event featured transplanted Dominican now calling Connecticut home, Delvin Rodriguez  making short work of willing but limited Luis Hernandez, in a third round TKO  stoppage at the 1:47 mark.

Rodriguez sent Hernandez to the canvas on three occasions - the finis arrived following a big right hand off the jab.

Rodriguez, 26,  goes to 19-1-1, 11 KO’s and Hernandez, 32, drops to 20-3, 13 KO’s.

Closing Comments: Delvin Rodriguez ~ Yes, he has good size, a welterweight  at 5’11, and yes, he showed good right hand power. Still, jury is out - gets away with defensive lapses with a Hernandez that may prove hazardous when moving up a rung or two. Winning USBA bauble could translate to curse instead of blessing.
Luis Hernandez ~ Not sure where them 20 prior scalps were taken - A for effort but fights with his face. In need of serious tutoring.
Referee Dept: Sam Garza ~ solid blue collar job without a trace of watch my style. Lawrence Cole in main event did the expected - butchered the assignment as is his personal calling card.
