Good news is I once again passed on the PPV
insult - yes, without a doubt both RJJ and Tito were
respective top of the class multi-champions when at prime time
- but heisting PPV mega-bucks at this point is nothing more
than targeting the curious and the uninitiated.
All precincts were in a week ago, and with
it, there would be no surprises on how this one would play
out.
Trinidad arrives off two year retirement -
the mind ready as he answers the opening bell in typical all
business approach - and what we see is Tito grabbing some
three of five of the early stanzas.
But the signs were this would not be his
night - Jones takes the early rounds off to get feel for the
incoming - then, mixes slapstick with fight biz, in a look
more suitable for vaudeville than the PPV fight prices that
were lifted from the viewers.
Once aware Tito failed to bring the
punching power up from his glory years at welter-middle levels
Roy would take command - but for sure this age 39 model ain’t
what it used to be.
Still, the “names” were tossed around for
Roy’s next opponent - Calzaghe, Hopkins, Pavlik, Taylor -
Oscarita anyone?
Nothing would surprise.
